I didn't think that the prices were unreasonable starting points. They are just asking prices. Money talks. 64-65 model years are getting harder & harder to find.

WOW, all "Post Cars" except for the vert. Those are getting really hard to find. I paid 2k for my pile and $500.00 to ship it Dallas. Does not seem to unreasonable. Unless you think I paid to much!

thought about that but want an original factory 4 speed frame instead of just welding the Z bar bracket. Great possibilities here - Post, non air, and manual steering cars for that 442 4 speed tribute.

If I recall correctly the Z bar bolts in on a 65. Is a 64 bolted or welded?

I am sure one of the 64-65 experts will chime in.

I too like the 6 cylinder car. That is a hot rod in waiting.

Look up www.442bro.com then click on resto-tips. He shows you where exactly to weld the bracket for the Z bar. In another section he shows you where to cut the hole for the shifter. Young Olds-64's had 330 V-8's, unless the 400E was stuck in there, as in my case. I took the 400E out of my 67 for my 64 build. I have almost everything to build a very nice 425 but at this point I don't know if I will.

I've been keeping my eye on those cars to see if there's any movement on them. All of them have been for sale for several weeks now. At least three of them are within a 2hr drive from me - dangerously close.

We just got back from a road trip to Seattle. I had some other business up there so we took the car trailer just in case. I contacted a few of these listings and got the run around for a few days and they could only show them at night in the end in the dark. When we first agreed to see them during the day. I also looked at 8 other Oldsmobiles while up there. All so typical for Seattle. Very rusty. You would think they were from the salt belt. I passed on them all. One was so bad that I could put my fist through the top with a vinyl top still on it. Lots of way over priced rust buckets. Came home with an empty trailer. I have this happen each time I go to Seattle. Need to rethink those trips. But, had other reasons to go so that was good.

We were able to look at 9 cars.

None of the 64's we just got the run around trying to look at them.

I looked at the following cars

1-67 Cutlass 2 door hardtop . it was rotten and hit on each side
1-67 Cutlass Supreme 2 door lots taken off and rotten
1-66 2 door hardtop seats gone and top very rotten bondo in lower sections
1-70 442 totally gutted and all rusted out no floors at all
1-70 vista cruiser was a good option car but way over priced
1- 70 Cutlass supreme convertible very rotten drivetrain and nose missing
1-68 Cutlass Convertible gutted but had a 2 barrel 455 in it. rotten
1-68 cutlass 2 door very rotten gutted
1 71 vista cruiser average options very rusty

I'm seeing a pattern..... Are you saying Seattle cars can be rusty? 😎

Usually they are. Seattle is on the sound which is salt water. basically on the ocean. then put lots of rain and I mean LOTS of rain. All means rust.
