1972 Cutlass For Sale

1972 Cutlass

I am trying to sell my 1972 Cutlass. I don't know much about it. But here goes,

It is a 1972 Cutlass with W-31 badges on it. The motor is a 350 with 74000 miles on the odometer. It has the rally wheels with a rear spoiler. There is bench seat in the front. Black interior. It ran about 5 years ago but it has been parked in a storage shed since. I need to sell this and get rid of the storage unit bill. My loss is your gain. Clean title and in hand.

Looking for my investment back $ 4500

Located South of Indianapolis.

My .02

It might be easier to sell if you drop a battery in it and take a little time and try and get it running.

Good Luck with your sell

Was that storage unit shut and sealed? Whats up with all the leaves and branches covering it up?

Answers...

When i got the car it was from a tenant who couldn't pay his rent. So i know it ran because he drove it. I have had it since 2011 and it was in storage since 2012. It was under a car port for a year. It is currently in a storage unit.

I am not mechanically inclined to work on it nor do i want to pay someone to work on it. I just want his debt paid back to me and stop paying storage fee's as well.

I have VIN# if that would help....

W-31s were only made from 68-70 right?

"Ran when parked" is no guarantee that it runs today.

Mcarter

Is it a 4 speed or auto trans?

The car looks fairly complete., it's difficult to ascertain the true condition of the car in its current state. If it was cleaned and good pics were taken you may have better luck w your asking price.

I think that it will be difficult to move as it sits for that kind of money. In good running driving condition in my area that car might bring $5000-7000. In its current project state I would expect the value to be somewhere closer to ~$1500.

The above is my opinion and I'm trying to be helpful. Cleaning good pics and maybe get a mobile mech to get it running and you will have better luck.

Feedback

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I learn the rims are off a 1975 Cutlass. The W31 badges were added later in life. I got the truck open and the trunk floor is solid. The motor is a 350. It is true if i cleaned it up and better pictures it might be easier to sell but i do not have any options to get that done. So i will decrease the asking price to $ 3500. I really need to move this to avoid additional storage fee's.

Thank Everyone for the help.

Congrats on the sale.
Judging by the interior trim the cars VIN should have started out 3F87()2()123456. The first () would tell what engine code - likely it was H looking at your pic, and the second () would tell what plant it was built at.

The 3F87 is the base, or lowest end, Cutlass produced that year. The deck wing is also an add on as those weren't part of the 72 offerings. As you already noted the W31 emblems weren't original either. I bet you're glad to see some $$ out of that.

Congratulations on the sale. Was it a member here by chance? I'd love to see some pics of that car cleaned up the way it deserves to be.
