1968 Olds 442 Convertible 78k original, trade for 4spd car

Update, for sale $15000/offer. I'd prefer to sell it to someone on here and have it continue to live a charmed life.

1968 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible, 78k original miles. I am the 3rd owner, I bought it from the second owner that had it since 1970. It is numbers matching, 400 engine, original quadrajet carb, TH400 trans, the engine has never been out of the car and it runs excellent. It starts easy cold and can be driven daily, turn the key and drive it anywhere. It is a bench seat car, factory red w/ parchment interior. Factory A/C, the compressor still kicks on and has some freon in the system. Factory power windows, power top (needs top eventually.) Interior is excellent, has had new carpet and the front seat recovered, everything else is original and has never been apart. It was repainted once in the original color in the late 70s and has been stored indoors. Paint is lacquer and has some light checking on the hood and trunk. It was never wet sanded and has some light orange peal. There are lots of chips in the sides from parking lots, and there is some rust and filler in the car. Not bad at all, especially for Wisconsin. Looks great from 20' and going down the road. All body panels are original, again, never been apart. It is an original, turn key cruiser, with the patina to match.

I love the car and don't want to sell, but I want something manual transmission. I have gone back and forth on converting this car to a 4spd, but can't bring myself to modify something so well preserved and untouched. My car has been appraised recently for $15000. I'd consider even trades or cash one way or the other. I'd consider everything from a basket case restoration project to another driver.

Email is the best way to respond, chaosjr07@yahoo.com

(Last three pics are from when I got it, had old carpet in it still, everything is cleaner now. I still have the hubcaps but it is running on correct 14x6 SSII wheels currently. Original redline spare is still in the trunk, was a hubcap car originally.)

Without seeing close-ups, I would say that is a great looking car for your asking $15kish in trade. Good luck with your search for a 4 speed.

Thanks, it is far from mint condition, but I think the appraisal was pretty dead on as far as value. Still, rather trade for what I want verses selling it. That lets me continue to enjoy it while I wait for the right car. If nothing happens this summer I will probably go ahead w/ the conversion and keep it.

Thanks, Ted, we'll see what happens. So far no trade offers from this site. Have it on CL as well, couple trade offers but nothing I am interested in. I have had 2 different people approach me and suggest I'd be making a mistake altering this car. While I can see their point, and this is why the car is listed for a trade for a manual trans car, ultimately if I did the conversion I'd no longer have any desire to sell it. So we will see what happens, I guess.

Horribly redundant, I know. One learns to try to be extra clear to avoid really dumb questions when writing ads.
