1969 Delta 88 custom
hey guys there are some of you who know the history of this car,
I have had my health (back) issues get worse and having another project sitting around is not what I need right now as much as I would like to drop a motor and trans into this with a decent paint job I just cant, I need to repaint my 70 delta and just bring it back up to par.
this car is very solid some rust in fenders but have NOS set of fenders to go with the car.
black interior is in nice shape, driver seat is worn and torn some.
I will try to post the list of parts that I have I hope we can see it!!20140508_175433.jpg

Yes it is uncle Hulka car, he kept motor and trans.
I can deliver so transport is not a problem!!
Floor trunk is very solid the only rust is bottom of front fenders and very little surface oN rear. I have two NOS fenders that come with car also. No buckets or console it's a bench seat column shift interior is pretty decent front seat has some thread tears. Back seat head liner dash perfect

I searched and found the story on the car.
I have a 69 Delta 4 door rustbucket with the 455/th400 and trailer tow still complete/running. I'm probably the only guy with the parts to put it back near original. I need another project (especially one 800 miles away) like I need a hole in the head lol.
Gotta admit, my interest is piqued.................and spring is near!

Not sure uncle hulka would not sell motor as far as I know thing may have changed not sure.
I do not work and road trips can always be fun. I drove to conneticut to get car so 800 miles would not be so bad.
Turbobill you are the only one who can restore her back aS close to original as possible.

I'll keep trying to save $$ so maybe I can add this beauty to my other projects.... Love to put in a 455/400 and shoot her the original (silver?) color. I actually can get a 455/400 combo lined up for her quick too... hey one can dream, right?
Be well, and you'll sell her soon, just don't scrap her!

Haha will not scrap it. I really have a hard time umderztanding understanding why i still have this car. So many people asked about selling it shen hulka had it and now hardly anyone will even bite on it

This has been a painful thread to follow. I regret selling the B07 Delta, but as much as I would like, buying her back just isn't in the cards. The reasons go beyond the time and money conflicts many of us here face.
When I offered the Delta for sale minus engine and transmission, Brian stepped up to the plate. Now, you never know what to expect when meeting a total stranger fram an internet ad, but Brian was a terrific guy. He and his step-dad were just plain old regular folks and I really enjoyed meeting them both. After Brian shared the story of why he wanted the Delta, I knew she was going to someone who would treat her well. As we were loading up the car and all the parts, I could see the enthusiasm growing in his eyes. Yeah, she was going to a good home.
But sometimes, life has its own plans.
I was so sad to hear of Brian's health issues. I know he will beat these problems, but in the meantime, he has to do what's best for him. Even if that means selling a car that he loves. Hopefully he will find the right buyer. It would be great if someone from this board could buy it.
I listed the B07 Delta for sale here with all the NOS parts I had for her restoration. I priced her for less than I had paid. Lots of interest, lots of enthusiasm, no buyers. I couldn't have the car taking up space in my shop any longer and I wasn't about to put her outside. Since no one wanted to buy her, I decided to use the engine and transmission to create the fantasy car that I would never be able to afford.....a 1969 Hurst/Olds replica.
The L32 455 was the engine Oldsmobile selected as the starting point in the 68-69 H/O conversion process and I had a well-maintained example that could go right into my 1969 Cutlass S. Short of an genuine 1969 H/O engine, this is without a doubt the next best thing. I decided to use what I had to create my very own H/O. The project was more successful than I could have hoped for.
Like most of our projects, they seem to take on a life of their own and this was no exception. this was no simple engine swap. To make the most accurate replica I could (as accurate as budget would allow), I ended up:
I am not yet finished, but the car runs and drives beautifully. I ran her at Musclepalooza and she performed well. I didn't push her, but she ran a best of 14.29 @ 99.4.
I'm very pleased with the car my friends and I have built. For me, keeping the L32/M41 and building the H/O was the right decision. It would have been nice to have been able to have kept the eng/trans with the Delta, but no one was in a position to buy her in that state. So now the L32 & M41 have a home in my Cutlass. I have no plans or desire to sell them, but if I did, whoever owns the Delta at that time (hopefully Brian), will have first refusal.

Like most of our projects, they seem to take on a life of their own and this was no exception. this was no simple engine swap. To make the most accurate replica I could (as accurate as budget would allow), I ended up:
- replacing the shocks & springs with HD components
- added correct HD rear anti-sway bar w/new boxed lower control arms
- replaced front anti-sway bar with correct HD
- adding headers and dual exhaust
- replacing the original 2.73 open rear with a rebuilt 3.92 Anti-Spin o-type
- replaced all brake components and cables
- converting the power front drums to power front disc
- added a correct 1969 Hurst Dual-Gate shifter (w/repro mini console)
- replaced original 14x6 SSI wheels with set of 15x7 SSIIs I restored.

So, was the 455 painted red in 1969? Or was it just the higher output motor? I was under the impression that red was always only for the 425 except in the case of a Tornado and the 455 was dark metallic blue.

I'll put together some pics of the conversion and start a thread in the "Major Builds and Projects" area, but for now here's one that means a great deal to me. It was taken a few weeks ago at Musclepalooza XXI. That day, she ran a best time of 13.717 @ 98.68 mph! For a stock engine (but with headers) and ET Street bias tires, I have no complaints whatsoever. Drove her to the track (a 2 hour 45 minute back road trip), raced her, then drove her home. All without the slightest issue. For an engine with 130K miles, I'd call that a tribute to both the original owner's diligent care and Oldsmobile's superior manufacturing abilities.
As time and money allow, I'll complete the cosmetic transformation but for now, I will just enjoy every moment behind the wheel.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDD
Thank you Kino, LOVE selling a car to someone who sees them for what they are worth, great guy and his wife is a cool chic too. Glad to make a new friend in the olds market...
OH and this was a rolling chassis sell only after I go thru all the parts again and see if I need anything and Kino has a chance to decide on a few parts they will be for sale

Thanks Brian. We had a great time in Kentucky, especially Danville! Long drive back but that's because the wife fell asleep the whole time and only woke up to eat and use the restroom. Lol. Took car to the shop and it will sit there until I figure out where I'm going with it. I'm still not sure where I'm going with it yet. Tell the family hello.

69 olds 88 bo7
you have a car that I would love to own! to make a long story short I have some paper work froma long closed chicago dealer that includes the order forms for to 69 olds 88's with the bo7 package for the cook county sheriff's department think you would have a good time looking at it. Would love to own a 69 delta 88 that was a real squad car or had the package on it. would be cool to see your car i don't live to far from you. thanks

Ia up in North east Illinois right on the boarder between McHenry and Lake counties. Would love to build a car much in the way that I have the paper work for like the cars that the cook county sheriff had. Also know that there were a few 98's running around this way too. I would guess the "big shots" had those like the mayor, etc, as "everyday" cars. Guess the caddy's only came out for parades and such or so I was told
