1972 442 V code

Might be a Cutlass but it is a V code. Too bad about the 454 Chevy & auto trans but car can be put back to 455 4 speed.

In West Chicago

  • 1972 -442. Oldsmobile Cutlass up for consideration. Originally 455-4 speed car verified by third # in vin being a V car still has 3 petals. Currently has a strong small block chevy, aluminum edelbrock performer RPM heads & intake, Holly carb,MSD ignition, headers & flowmasters, 400 trans, 12 bolt posi runs and drives strong! Have original protect-o-plate & owners manual. Power front disk brakes. Very very nice interior bucket seats, center council , just installed new headliner and driver seat redone. Older paint needing body work to restore to show quality or a nice driver to fix as you enjoy- a great father son project- very solid foundation for a build!
NADA low average retail value $17,700.
    Average Retail value $24,800
    High retail restored $55,620
    My price $8995.

I'll add that one to my registry, thanks. That's the second new one that showed up this week - there's a yellow (originally bamboo) S on Ebay now too.

If anyone here buys this, I have an original V Code 455/M20 available...

more

I wonder if the car was a factory manual steering car or if was converted from power when the 454 went in?

I figured you want the VIN for your registry. VIN: 87V2R143446.

I am surprised that it is an Arlington built car. Do you have many other V R cars?

The console conversion from 4 speed back to automatic is rather unique!

Flame orange & black with white stripes is a great color combo.

Glad to help and I hope someone buys it and returns it to its' original glory. Hopefully they have some documentation that will prove it is a legit W-29 car too.

Why do you keep saying 454 when the ad and text you posted says small block Chevy and the pics you posted show a small block as well?

Brain fart. Getting old. The point is that the current engine is a Chevy.

Thanks for the kind correction.

Yes, I have maybe 6-8 other Arlington built cars in the registry now. Linden is the one with the fewest (none?), followed by Framingham. Most are Lansing, Fremont and Arlington built cars.

Wonder how serious the rust is on this car? It's not a bad price if the body and pans are really solid.

That car is about 20 minutes from where I'm at if anyone is seriously interested and needs me to take a look.

From the seller:

"Hi if I was to do the car for myself I would put qtrs on it pas fender the rest is all repairable I would put new bumpers and rebuild the suspension. The frame is solid. only one small hole on the drivers floor the trunk pan was patched armature job. The window channels look good. Brakes are realy good. The car is most definitely worth doing. I do not have the time and have other projects so hoping to find the right buyer for the car!
You should come look at it and see if it works for you."

Don't worry about finding any Linden 71/72s, when they started building A- bodies for the 71 model year in Arlington, they dropped Linden.
