Help on ebay '67 442
I have a friend who is very interested in a 1967 442 currently on ebay, but he is not an Oldsmobile guy. I have mostly only studied 70-72 cars and am not extremely knowledgeable on the 67's.

He asked me my opinion on the car, specifically if the shifter looks correct (seems to be) and if the interiors were originally two-tone. This car is beautiful to me, and very original and well-documented as listed. I am wondering if anyone knows the car, and I am interested in hearing opinions from those members knowledgeable about the '67 cars. Thanks for your help.

It looks like a beautiful car! There are others here that know more than me maybe they will chime in. The shifter does look original, not sure on two tone interior but possible i suppose. Has correct air cleaner for 4 speed. Interior is not what I would call the deluxe interior as in a Cutlass Supreme, it looks like the base interior. As I said others know more than me. All the chromed plastic on the interior looks to be in amazing shape, not sun faded. If it is what they say it is, Id say its a good deal, but for that money I would want to see it in person before any money changes hands.

Thank you for the opinions. Of the two 67 cars that I have owned, both had solid (one) color interior. Thank you for the info. on two-tone in post cars.

Your friend needs to lay eyes on the car but it looks excellent in the pics. I'm not sure the final price will leave any room for resale in the near future but to me this is a long term keeper. I bought my 67 with 19,000 mile in 85 and this looks better condition.

The price is shooting right up. Certainly a beautiful car. Unrestored cars of any significance are surely becoming scarce. Personally, I would pay a premium for an untouched car, such as this. I'll be watching, and curious, for the result of this auction.

It's a very nice car, You have to decide, at this price whether you want something you can drive or something your going to stare at and dust once in a while on the trailer in between car shows.

Although my car is now off the frame and generally disassembled, it is a twin to this car except mine has
capacitive discharge ignition, SSI wheels and no power steering or brakes.
I've owned mine since 1969.
As well as I can tell, this car is otherwise an exact match to my car-inside and out.
It sure looks right to me.
26,000 miles with documentation-WOW!
If someone gets this one for $35,000 range, they've made a great buy!

I appreciate the input from everyone. I knew that there would be some good advice here. The price really jumped quickly (and with three days left on the auction). My friend joked that he needs to stay away from the beer in the refrigerator so he doesn't get crazy with bidding. He doesn't really drive his cars much, despite the pressure I put on him...( a ship is safe in the harbor, but that is not what ships are made for). Thanks again for the help.

It's just the way it was for the '67 Cutlass Supremes (no interior change included with the 442 OPTION):
coupes got the "cheap" two-tone seats and door panels (or OPTIONAL bench seat w/o fold down armrest)
hardtops & convertibles received the "luxury" solid colored interiors (or OPTIONAL bench seat with fold down armrest)

Because they are Cool and better lol just kidding …… or am I
Like it has been said a little cheaper interior in the Sport Coupe models
it was also the standard interior in the base model Cutlass Holiday Coupe

Everyone talks about how Barrett Jackson auctions and others like it drive up the prices of these cars, putting them out of range for alot of people. When is the last time you saw a regular 67 non W30 car sell for this much. I agree its a very nice car, but $50,000? Its stupid to me. Ok its definately a survivor original low milage car, I think its too much, just my opinion.
However... perhaps my car will be worth more than i anticipated when its done

Very nice car. I have to wonder why someone pay that much money for any Olds unless it was a W car or a convert. And there is a possibility that he has a friend shill bidding just to get the price up. I can't even get $13k for my friends 66 442, one owner, and it is a very nice car. Just needs some cosmetics.

The bidding does look suspicious with one bidder zero feedback.... remember there are people in this world who have piles of money and dont know what to spend it on or care about the cost. If it sells for that kinda money thats great!

Low mileage original cars dont appear every day. The current movement is towards cars like this. Im not in the market for a car so I dont care with the price is. But if I was Id be a fool to think that I could buy it for 20,000. And if it was mine I wouldnt take less than 50 for it.

Truely nice documented survivor cars are few and far between and will alway bring good money. Not apples to apples but my buddy was offered 400K for his z16 Chevelle in similar condition several years ago. That was at the peak of the market but he was not ready to let it go yet. Hindsight says he should of sold it then. The finally did sell it last year and it only brought 250K ish but still big money.

I think a hardtop 67 442 with auto is worth 20. 30 if a 4 speed. 35 if convertible.
40 if both. 70 if w-30, and I guess 100 if w-30, convertible, 4 speed.
I think that car is at least 20k overpriced, and I only claim to know values on this
year only as it is the year of car I have. Granted, if he can sell if for that, good,
but, BS aphorisms like "it's worth what someone will pay" aside, the market value
for that car is, in my judgment, 30k.

Admittedly, I really, really liked that car. It was definitely the condition, docs, etc. that I look for, but was well above my pain threshold, lol! Sometimes you just have to wait, and buy them from the estate, as a friend always says.
