I could not see how this Ram Rod did not sell the first day or two on CO. I would have loved to snap that thing up. It just wasn't in the budget. I was thinking Dean would pull it, then in the spring i could jump on it

Dean, just had a chance to look at your thread. Nice survivor car, and I am sure it found a nice home. There is another 68 ramrod in my area that my be for sale. However, the car has no paper work. Its a 3 speed car with 3.91 non-posi rear.
Any way tell us about your 69....

Yea, what Joe said. PLEASE do tell us all about your '69. And Stefano, what are your plans for the '68. I wish I'd have known about that '68 earlier, I could've been a player on that one. I can see that car done; Black and Red is one good-looking combination. I know this sounds weird and may surprise some of you, but I actually like '68s better than '69s, and I own a '69!
I bought that car on the color combo. I love the 68s but like the 69s better in appearance . Love the race history and representation of the 68 Ram Rods better though.
Hey how many could say they had a 68 and a 69 besides John Ebbs at one time

I thought about maybe sacrificing my '70 w-31 for it! Stickw31 would have been pissed though. ; ). When you said you had second thoughts about selling it I took a wait and see approach and missed it, although I had funds lined up just in case. Oh well! It has a good home. I probably would have done nothing to it except install correct seat covers and drive it.

Wow! So THAT'S what my interior should look like! Minus the 4 speed of course, but man I wish mine had a 4 speed. What color is the exterior looks like it could be Aztec Gold? Anyway beautiful car I'll keep it in mind if I need pictures for my interior refresh.

Who can explain the Engine pad stamp?
Looks like the original trans and rear are in place.
The car is very dry and solid. The frame has no pits and all the frame bushings are in great shape. No damage on the underside.

yes it was advertised as such w the original tranny and rear
the stamp from what I have gathered 721 - the extra blocks
the 6 before that good question.
well w only 60000 original miles suspecting that the undercarriage would be more than presentable

on my w-30 replacement block there is also letters
from what I understand and have seen thus far all replacement blocks have some letters.
Honestly I wish I knew what they meant or stood for

I don't know if is applicable here or not, but more often than not, a re-builder (dealership or other) stamps some id on the engine. A signature of sorts to be able to verify later that it was indeed rebuilt by them. Sometimes initials sometimes insignificant letters/number. And the stamping were usually done where the engine id was.
And replacement block were considered rebuilt in this sense.

Thanks for the pics! Car looks awesome! Has the engine been out of the car?
For the stamp pad, the number on there may be inventory control for Oldsmobile, or may be the last 4 numbers of the 'fitted block" part number. I don't have an engine assembly manual for 68, but I would start there.

Stefano, my '69 W-31warranty replacement block has the same type "7something" as the block you just got from Dean. I'd have to look at the pad (be glad to) to document he exact codes. I know the whole story on my car, so I may be of some help to you. PM me and we can talk.

The rear doesn't appear to ever have been opened up or had the fluid changed so we changed out all the other drivetrain fluids.
The rear and gears are still in great shape. Acceptable lash and good patterns on the gears.

Great thread...have learned a few things...sorry Dean to see such a neat car leave your possession...but I am excited to see it at MCAN in a few months...
My 69 W-31 replacement block is stamped 6 858 ....car was sold new at Berejik and according to the second owner, the block was replaced at Berejik ....still trying to verify this ....tried getting pics of the pad, but no luck so far with a lousy camera....
