1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham

130k miles

Silver with gray vinyl top, gray interior.

Everything works, nothing missing.

Power windows, locks, seats, antenna.

Dash is untouched with original stereo radio/cassette.

Tilt steering wheel. Cruise control.

A/C is charged with R134a freon.

Original spare, jack, and wire wheel cover tool still in place in a seemingly unused trunk.

No airbags.

Original owner's manual in leather binder.

Vinyl top and interior are perfect. This car did not sit out on the driveway or workplace parking lot. Garage-kept by my retired grandfather. Looks and smells clean.

Spent most of its life in a small town in western Wisconsin. Now stored in a Milwaukee suburb.

$4000

Location helps, unless you're paying the shipping.

Allan did they come with 4 cylinders? I figured they'd all be the 3800. Or were you being a wiseguy? I notice that most cars on ebay have 4 cylinders.

By the way, good luck with the car and welcome. Looks like a nice one.

Sorry Mike and OP. I just looked up the 88 Royale series and they did come standard with the 3800. There were 2 engine choices for the 3800 though. I might have got the 4 cylinder mixed up with the Quad 4 that was introduced for the Calais. Not being a wiseguy. My apologies for the error. Will correct previous post.

No supercharger was offered in 1988. Actually, in 1988, I'm pretty sure these cars came with either the 3800 or the earlier "non-3800" version of the 3.8L V6 that was less refined (for example, without the added balance shaft of the 3800, it tended to vibrate more). The engines are externally identifiable (the 3800 will have the engine cover or "shroud" that says so), also the 8th character in the VIN (C or 3) will identify (C is for the 3800).

You're right. I went back and modified the post just before you posted. The 2 engines listed were LG3 and LN3. Both are listed as Sequential Port Fuel Injection motors, so I'm not really sure what the difference between the 2 was. I know that in later years the Supercharger option was available on the 3800. I've driven the 88 D88 and they weren't short on performance IMO.

No worries Allan. I was just funnin' ya. I've driven several cars with the 3800 and they are excellent motors. My Mom had a 96 "Eighty Eight" and it was swift as well as thrifty. Oddly enough, my Dad years ago had an 81 Cutlass with the 3.8 and it was a dog.

So none of this does much to help this guy sell his car, but at least it keeps getting bumped back to the top.

Edit: Dad's car was a G body rear driver, with a big honkin' carb on it. That's why it was a dog. This car here should be quick and economical, and it's a good looking car, too.
