1963 Starfire

Car is sold, Thanks! I need to sell my 63 Starfire, it's a nice driver quality car. It has decent repaint from the 70s with chips and nicks and normal discoloration here and there, gets lot of compliments at cruise nights but not a show winner. The car was from Oklahoma and doesn't have rust, was I'm pretty sure wrecked in the 70s and had ok body work done, you can see sanding scratches in the rear quarters and some other places. The drivers side front fender doesn't line up exactly right but doors all fit and work properly. I'm making the car sound a lot worse than it is but you probably don't like surprises anymore than I do. Decent interior with worn seats and a few tears on seams in front, good stainless. Car runs and drives good, nice tires, low miles on exhaust system, 72,000 mile car and I have the inspection stickers from the 70s that will back that up. It's a neat driver car that gets a lot of attention. I think the ac and the radio are the only things that don't work, has the nice wheels (ok, hubcaps). It runs and drives well, I guess you could say it's a nice 20 footer. I'd prefer you look at the car before you buy it. It's located in Lawrence Kansas, I want $8500. Ok, I lowered the price $1000.00, kinda need to sell, surprised there is zero interest, heck, I'd listen to an offer.

Does your car still have the original Starlight foam headliner? Not a lot of those still around!

OK, I lowered the price $1000.00, would listen to an offer. It seems cheap to me, am I missing something?

Based on recent bids for similar cars on Ebay your price seems very reasonable. There are some on right now, check it out. Unfortunately there are a lot fewer people interested in the big cars compared to the Cutlasses/442's. If you don't want to sell on Ebay at least try Craigslist and Auto Trader. I have had good luck with C/L on my last two car sales...

I am having a super hard time trying to sell my 68 442. Granted it is a project, but it isn't a rust bucket and not a whole lot of interest Basically selling it for pretty cheap as far as solid 442s go. I like your car and I am always a sucker for red cars. 62, 63 -65/66 are my fav starfires.. But they are all cool in their own way. If you were closer I would at least check your car out. Looks like a good one!

First, if your original post in this thread is the first time you mentioned anywhere that the car is for sale, it hasn't even been a month yet. Patience.

Second, are you advertising it anywhere besides this thread? For all the Olds enthusiasts on this site, the potential audience here is miniscule compared to what you'd get if you advertised on craigslist, put it on ebay, or something like that. If you're an OCA member, put an ad in JWO.

As I said, patience is the operative word here. The car is nice and fairly priced, but the potential audience is small, and it could take several months or more to find a buyer.

I've tried it on craigslist, had a couple of calls but nobody who was much more than a little curious. I'm pretty sure the first person who see the car that has real interest will buy it, very nice car for the money.

I assume you have For Sale signs in the windows and drive it around as much as possible? Take it to as many car shows and cruise-ins as you can? Do you know anyone who lives or has a business on a high-traffic street that will let you park the car and show it off?
