1969 Hurst Olds Prototype $825k (not mine)

I stumbled across this car which for all intensive purposes may be worth the money if the documentation and paper trail is legit. Appears to the be the first 69 H/O car. Pretty insane...

Yep, there is only 2 in the world. The 2 were made for Oldsmobile big wigs. Can't remember who

Thought there was only the one prototype made, the Convertible is the one that is only 2 made in the world. TECHNICALLY 3 but the Ford CEO wrecked it and they built another one to replace it.

Could be wrong though

In my opinion. HE IS CRAZY!!!!!! Its missing the main parts that make up what sets it apart from regular 69 H/Os.

IF i remember the story correctly in Hemmings, the guy bought the car and it had a goofy wing on it. He knew it was a real Hurst and he restored it as a Hurst. Sometime down the line he did some research or something and found out he had the prototype, not sure if he put the stuff back on or if this one in the ad is the one he is talkign about. Seems way off with the way it is with no decent pictures of the car. For that price you better have a 30 minute video or you showing EVERY inch of that car and with it running and such.

According to the article, the car originally had a 517 cid engine!!!
Is it the real deal? Yes.
Is it crazy rare? Hell yes!
Would I like to own it? Nope. For the exact same reasons he is selling it.

In the article, the owner states repeatedly that he just can't bring himself to drive the car. He didn't buy it as THE prototype. He bought it as a regular Hurst/Olds. It was only after some research did he discover what he had. I feel his pain. What would any of us do in that situation?

Is it worth $825K? If I were a billionaire amassing the ultimate Musclecar collection I would have to have it. Otherwise........

So it was bought as an original regular H/O? Nonetheless, it's pretty freakin' cool.

How do you even assign a price to something that rare? Maybe Jay Leno will grab this one.

I'll bet $20 that "elephant tusk" wing shows up at a swap meet and some ricer kid screws it into his 1991 Acura Integra.

Seems I have seen an old advertisement with a spoiler like that on a convertible with front and rear buckets. Anyone?

I have the correct spoiler if he needs it I was going to put it on my 72 U code but am leaning towards selling it. "It" being the spoiler.

you would think if you were asking so much and representing the car as so rare that you would have replaced the tube headers and Flowmasters....

He lost me at not the correct motor. The repaint killed it too. GLWTS. You're going to need it.

Seriously? I thought it was a prototype made out of unobtanium.

Not the original engine that should knock about $700,000 off the price.
