66 starfire bench seat

I thought the same thing about the bench seat until 4 years ago a friend of mine showed me his 66 starfire with the strato-bench seat, guess it isn't that uncommon.for me the most attractive feature of the starfire is the buckets/console shift, when it has it.

Looks pretty good. There is evidence of rear glass leak or rot thru with the rust in the trunk around wheel wells. Yes the bench strato seat was available but mostly you see bucket seats. The amount of potmetal trim on these cars is insane and the key is to find a car with limited or no pitting there...that is tough. This car has been listed for quite a while.... shows that these boats and even the performance Sfire is not so much in demand.

His ad says this:

"comes with 2 sets of keys and original Olds CD"

I know what keys are, but what is an "Olds CD?" Certificate of Deposit? Compact Disc? I didn't think they had compact discs back in 1966.

I really don't know, and forgive my ignorance if it's obvious.

I'd venture a guess he has a copy of the 66 Olds service manual on a cd???????????

Nice car. I have a solid1966 Dynamic convertible sitting in a building that I wanted to turn into a "clone/never made" Starfire. I almost bought a 66 Starfire parts care to do it but price was high. Ken

Food for thought, I have all side trim for one except for right fender wheel lip stainless molding. All diecast is nice, straight with only tiniest of pits. Excellent grill. Trunk panel destroyed, tail lights badly pitted. 3 decent Starfire script. Complete AT console and shifter, fs steering colum, black door trim panels.but chromish trim peeling. Make you a package deal on it or even the whole car? Maybe bucket seats but I view them as being 442 seats.

Well Henry, your post made me think about it for a minute. Father time and too many other projects/obligations have put that car way down on my list. I will keep you in mind, just in case. Thanks, Ken

That's only because few people know what a Starfire is. Because it's a full-size, most people think it's just some car for middle-aged types or families. Even though, it'll outrun a comparable Riviera, the Riviera stands out as a performance car, when you park it next to a LeSabre or Electra. I guess, you could say the Starfire is Oldsmobile's version of the Buick Wildcat of which mostly Buick fans are aware of what one is.
Check out this one. The buyer thinks or was told it has 400 horses. Nice interior, though. Too bad, I can't grab the photo:
