1970 Cutlass Supreme, one family owned this vehicle until recently, when I purchased it. Bucket seats, center console, A/C car, runs and drives really nice. It's a quiet car and the brakes work great. Some rust in the driver's floor pan. everywhere else seems solid. New tires. I am detailing the interior and it looks real nice as well. The driver's seat needs to be covered, but the rest is cleaning up nicely. The door panels are on great condition. It will need a head liner and carper. The head liner is coming apart in one of the seams. Solid trunk, original jack, SSI spare that matches the other four the car is sitting on. Turn signals, lights, and even the buzzer work. This is a really good car. Clean up the surface rust, put in a couple of small patches, and you are well on your way.

The car has a clear Tennessee title.

The car is now located in Birmingham Alabama.

The trunk and passenger floors look good. I will need to cut the carpet out of the car in order to inspect the driver's side and rear floor boards. The driver's side will need some work. I can see enough of the floor board through the torn up carpet to be able to tell it needs attention.

A/C and manual drum brakes? That's an unusual combo. Definitely custom-ordered. No dealer would order a car like this to put on the lot.

Yeah! That's what I thought when I first looked it over. It also has a twelve bolt rearend. I am going to go ahead and part this beauty out so I can keep the rearend for use in my 442.

Chevy 12 bolt or Type O?
Didn't all US manufactured cars get a Type O 12 bolt?

Unfortunately, it does not. It has a Type O, which may have 12 bolts on the cover but only uses 10 bolts to hold an 8.5" ring gear. Chevy 12 bolt parts do not fit. Parts are unique to the Type O and somewhat difficult to find.

FYI, no Cutlii were built in Canada for the 1970 model year, so there were no Canadian-installed Chevy axles.

I have recently learned about the issues with the type O rearend. But the question is, which one is better. The type O or the 10 bolt one that is in the 442 now? The Type O in the 70 Cutlass is also an open rearend. Others have told me the twelve bolt, or type O is better than the ten bolt.
