1962 Starfire California Barn Find

1962 Starfire California Barn Find
SOLD.
For Sale: Wedgewood Blue Mist 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire Coupe. It's a California car with factory a/c. Original motor, never painted, or wrecked. Found sitting in a garage in California. Would make a perfect father/son project.
I bought the car to use as a parts car for my 1962 Starfire Convertible, but once I got it running I knew it too nice to destroy. The car does runs/drive/stop well, but will need a full restoration. I wanted to offer it here first.
The car is complete minus the tach, and a/c compressor. I just installed all new fuel lines, rebuilt the fuel pump and cleaned out the fuel tank. Transmission was rebuilt at some point years ago (it was repainted GM blue).
The car has a few nice (standard) features like power windows (and they all work) vacuum trunk, power antenna. 342.1 ring/pinion (non posi). The interior is complete, and presentable (not all torn up). It was just sitting in a garage for 28 years and needs a good home. No title, bill of sale only.
For pics, follow the link below to my photo album here on classic olds... If you have any questions please email or send me a PM. Car is located in Tucson, AZ.

$3400.00 OBO.
Thank you.
Paul.

You have a good eye..I meant to hit "preview post" first, but I the mouse skipped over that part. I edited the post, and got the price in there.
I got the car running/driving around the yard, and knew I had to save it. Hope someone can use it. I have my hands full now with the 88, and Starfire convertible.

The last owner did not have the title. The car has not been in the California DMV system since 1985. A bonded title can be obtained. If I were keeping the car, that is what I would do...

If I had more than a 2 car garage, I would own that car at that price. When I was done it would be black with red leather interior and the factory Starfire wheel covers. There are always too many ifs.

Personally speaking Black looks the best on the Starfire. I would have preferred a Black one, but took what was available (Wedgewood Blue).
I wanted a convertible Starfire for about the last 30 years, but could never find one I could afford till now...and you guessed it, its Wedgewood Blue.

Will do red. The convertible is in daily driver form at this time. However it will receive a full frame off restoration beginning this fall. According to Hemming's there are only about 118 air conditioned 1962 Starfire Convertibles left...if true, I would love to get a breakdown by color.

It is a perfect candidate to restore. The price is cheap enough for someone to put money into it to make it a nice cruiser, but still be able to re-sell it without getting hurt.
I need to have a good donor car for the conv, and thought this car would work... it worked too well to where I dont want to part it out.
Between restoring my 62/88, and the 62 Starfire Convertible, I will either need to sell this one, or part it out to have enough funds to move on to another donor.

I am flexable with the price to help cover the DMV fees. There are title services that will assist with all the paperwork. No title makes it a little harder to sell, but some cars are worth a little extra work. Make no mistake though, I will part the car out if nobody wants it...
Open to offers, the worst I can say is no thank you.

Guys...
I have just located another potential donor car for my Starfire convertible. That being said this car either needs to go (soon), or it will become the donor. If nobody steps up soon, I will need to move on.
Bottom Line price is $2800.. I can safely store the vehicle for awhile if needed.
Thank you for the interest.

Man Paul, I convinced my wife last night and she said "do whatever you want!" We spent an hour and a half looking at images for '62 Starfires on google. I just sold my '72, because I needed to downsize, but you are killing me! You wouldn't happen to know any transporters would you? I've never shipped a car, and that is preventing my from pulling the trigger....besides shipping cost. I am in NY. I will contact you from this point on through PM. Thanks. Erik

Reduced ($2800) and I put the car on eBay to cover all my options. I am also going to list the Starfire convertible soon (in case anyone is interested). I'm changing directions.. Keping my 62-88, but replacing the Starfires with a 62 Corvette (if I can sell the Starfires)..

Hey Erik,
Thanks, I know you did want it, but the shipping made it cost prohibitive. I do appreciate the effort though! Next time I'm back in the old neighborhood, I will look you up.
