1969 Hurst ... Real deal PROJECT
I have known this car since about my entire life.
It's my grandpa neighbors .
Was stored indoors for a long time but the past 7yrs
It's been sitting under a tarp on his driveway .
The guy is a old NASCAR tuner and has kept this rare beauty
Absolutely factory original. It's the unmistakable white with gold trim
Beautiful hood scoops. Very rare big money car.
Once restored. These go for 6 figures...
Body has plenty of rust .
Int is complete
Drivetrain is 100% factory oem.
455 H.O 100% Original
ENGINE RUNS STRONG
1 owner from new.
ALL Records available
Extremely rare chance to own one of the most iconic Oldsmobile ever
Built... Really ...
Car is in Arlington Virginia .

You are correct Sicky. From some of the stuff posted on here recently, they are having a hard time exceeding 5 figures.

Actually, $9,999.99 is also six figures... 
All I can say is good luck with that. Sorry, but intake, carb, air cleaner, hood scoop, D heads, mirrors, dual gate, OH trans together will probably bring $15K - $20K. The rest is a Cutlass with "plenty of rust". Proper welded sheet metal repair of rust is major dollars unless one is doing all the work one's self, in which case it's a significant chunk of your life.

Cool! Yes that's a rare car alright. Please get pictures of the rare items to help potential buyers see what's still there. Then also the rust issues and whatever other flaws may have developed over time. Then also the rust issues and whatever other flaws may have developed over time. There's several members here who have 1969 Hurst Olds so ask questions if there's anything you have trouble identifying or need to know what rare items to photograph.

Man this thing is sad. I hate to see such a great car deteriorate to such condition. The one picture of the interior looked decent but I and only imagine what it looks like underneath. I think you $44k is about twice what your best offer is going to be. Maybe I am wrong.

I only put up what he was asking for...
His biggest point of emphasis was how original in well documented this car is. Well after all it is basicly a survivor car that is one of the most iconic muscle cars ever built.

I understand. Oftentimes people have an emotional attachment that gives them inflated ideas as to what something is worth. Good luck with the sale.

It would be a good idea to get close, well lit, well focused [use the macro setting (flower icon)] shots of
the D on the heads
The intake manifold "J" identifier, and PCV boss just aft of the thermostat housing
the carb number, left hand side, rear corner, vertical
The engine's VIN stamp and/or Engine Unit Number on the oil fill tube
the chrome oil fill cap - exact shape of the top, and the "S" on the rivet
The trans ID tag, RH side, midway fore-aft.
The air cleaner, and any inked on PN/ letter code it may have
Differential codes stamped into the axle tube
Water pump ID, RH outlet boss "O" probably, and 6-digit "40026_" probably next to the inlet hose.
The protecto-plate and/or broadcast sheet or any other factory pc of paper with numbers.
That would be a great start on the documentation.

Yes, please don't be offended by the comments on sale price. No matter how rare or complete the car is if the body and or frame is rotten from rust that will bring down the value. But the owner can place the sale price at whatever he wants. If the market will not support that price, he can decide to keep the car or reduce the price until it sells. If you can help him provide accurate information out to the Oldsmobile community that will give him the greatest chance to sell it for the most money. Since many of us have an emotional attachment to these cars its painful to see something so special rot into the ground. Sadly, more that a few times we've seen this happen to rare old cars.

I saw this post right after it was made. In reading it I thought that the car would be way way way overpriced but I chose to wait for pics. Now that the condition has been displayed in the pics all I can say is please tell grandpa's neighbour to lay off what ever he has been smoking. $44k...really?. Really?
This car will require an investment of well over $50k after purchase just to make it a strong number 2 car. The asking price is completely unrealistic.

Nice to see 69's keep popping up from time to time.
Should probably say, "Once restored these 'ask' for 6 figures", haven't seen a 100,000+ one sold in a while, and as we all know we shouldn't confuse BJ/Meccum/etc auction prices with real world street prices. Honestly, it's a 20K range car. But whatever the case, good luck with the sale, hopefully you can get it to someone that will bring it back to life.

Once other quick item. This is certainly not intended to be an insult, I know you are just passing the info along which is great.
But before posting pics for sale elsewhere I'd take some others to be sure to remove any misc debris from the car including the plants on pkg tray, bucket in front seat, ladder leaning on the car, etc...

I saw that also, me thinks he may be smokin what he was growing. But he is entitled to ask whatever he wants. I for one would rather buy a truckload of cars for that price. Not interested in status symbols.
Although by the price of the Intake Manifolds of late... You can get a whole car.

I think that with the advent of televised auctions such as Barret- Jackson, everybody thinks old muscle cars can be turned into gold. As example, listed on the local Craigslist is a 67 442. This poor car has no drive train,ratted out interior,and has rust holes in the body panels. They only want 7k firm.
Also getting resto parts is like swimming in shark filled waters,but I digress.its only money.

Exactly. Just go onto ebay Advanced Search, type in "442", and click on "completed auctions". Note how many do NOT sell. Unfortunately, many sellers think that an unrealistic asking price means that they car is worth that much also.

A "survivor" is an original car needing little or NO work.
An "unrestored" car is an old car needing a restoration to be presentable.

I vote repaint. Original gold "rusts" to the white in situations like this. Hard to explain that, but basically the gold areas surface rust where the white won't as quickly. This gold looks like the clear is peeling on the trunk. And monitors/cameras may show shades different, but I'm betting that isn't the original gold as it usually fades badly, hardly ever getting darker.

Iwould tell gramps not to go a dime lower...a 69 H/O cant be fooled like many of these w-30's out there with bogus paperwork.... and gramps seems to have the real deal H/O so thats peace of mind for any buyer

The camera was low quality.
Honestly the camera did not do this H.O justice.
It's not as bad as it appears.
100% original ... Never repainted... Ever
I will take better pics soon .
I have a potential buyer from Sweden so it might go fast..
Perhaps $34k was more on point for this ride
