What makes you unsure? Sell it to the first guy who comes up with the money...as simple as that. If you think you can get more money based on the response then try ebay or raise he price here...

I got dealers low balling me now and I waited all Saturday for someone to show up and never did. The guy was nice enough to call but with that said, It will be starting tonight at 7:00 central for a 5 day run. If it doesn't sell I'll let it go this summer.

I got it home and cleaned up. I'm getting a lot more of a response than I thought I would. The last time I sold a car with this many calls it was back on Craigslist the very next day selling for a profit by the new owner without even transferring the title. The guy that bought the 12 bolt posi looked it over and was kind enough to give me some advice on selling the car. He may be willing to offer his opinion of the car. I am considering trying EBay. I hate to give them anymore money but I'm not sure how to handle this.
However, dealing with people here and straight cash is always a lot more pleasant of an experience. Good luck with the sale. I'm sure the new owner will be happy.

I dont know nothing about nothing but it might be helpful to include more key words in the title like for example cutlass or olds I try to max out the characters allowed to hopefully broaden the potential search matches
someone may search on cutlass or olds and not come across your auction, I dont think it said cutlass anywhere in the ad !!!
good luck w the sale

Ending tonight on Ebay. I was surprised that the 71 w30 that just ended a couple days ago only peaked out at 35K.
The closer it gets to the reserve the more I regret selling it. It seems I should have installed the original block back in it. Either way I never get to attached to cars. I was selling this Olds in favor of keeping a 66 SS396 but after driving the 66 around I should keep the Olds and sell the 66.

Hi MN 71 W30,
I see the 66 you have very nice. As a kid a good friend of mine older brother raced a 66 396 four speed at Neita raceway in Iowa in the late 60s early 70s it was a blue one also. He would take his younger brother and me along sometimes. Thats what got me into racing.I think I may have met you at Rock Falls Raceway but not sure .I run a blue and white 70 olds.I rememder something a bout a 71 w 30 one time when I was there . was that you. Thanks,Tim

Hey Tim, see you this summer!!
The longer the ad ran the less I wanted to sell it. It's the best driving car I've had in a long time. I dropped off the block at my engine builders place. It looks good and I plan on getting it back in the car and slowly continue to locate some more original parts. Rollerball is right, they're not worth much in a partially restored condition. I could have sold it after the sale somewhere in the lower to mid 20's. I met a real character that wanted a Zerox color copy of my paper work sent to him before he would make an offer because he wanted to make sure it looked like the one he had for his 71 w30. I put my chrome wheels back on and covered it back up.

Restorers like to buy a basket case that is cheap and the collectors like to buy a car that is finished for a high price. The problem of your car is that it is right in the middle...for me personally it would be quite right because it is nice enough not to need anything but not too perfect to drive. And in all honesty i think your 455 with the Edelbrock heads will drive a bit better than an all original engine.
You say you had offer in the mit twenties. That was what you advertised in the beginning. Why did you not just sell it? Do you think you will get more out of it than building the new engine will cost you?

Good question, I got cold feet during the sale. It's nice to know what it is worth. If I get into a jam some day and need some money. I'm pretty sure it will be worth more with the right block back in it, but who knows how much. I don't think I'll be throwing away money till I buy some heads. That seems like money lost but I have a stockpile of parts to offset the cost. My days of driving it down the track are over. I got a couple fast cars around here to drive. I had a 68 W30 decades ago and it's the only car I wish I had back. When I talked about selling one because we have too many cars, My kids wanted to keep the faster cars and don't fully appreciate what the Olds is. But I do.
