1965 Olds Dynamic 88 2 dr Holiday Coupe
Alrighty guys and gals, I have decided to part ways with this car, and would like to offer it up here first.
1965 Olds Dynamic 88 2 dr Holiday Coupe
425, auto
New: tires, brakes, carpet, headliner, fairly recent paint. All this was done prior to me getting the car. (Rference my original forum post here). I have added a rear bumper (needs to be rechromed), and all taillights are now in place. I have changed the black seats to blue from another 65, and installed the blue side panels at the rear seat, painted Lucerne Mist to match. I have ran new vacuum lines to the front vents, and the vacuum operated trunk release. Replaced the broken and decayed turn signal switch with one from Rock Auto that was a repro, so all turn signals work.
It still needs a few things, but is a fantastic driver that doesn't smoke or use oil.
I would like to get $8000 out of it, but am open to all reasonable offers. When I got the car, the trunk was packed full of parts and those all go with the car, in addition to the black seats I took out, and the rest of the interior parts I bought to replace the incorrect parts interior wise. I can't ship - shipping/driving off will be on the buyer.
NADA (which we all know is high) lists as low - $5500, avg - $12000, high $18600. Collector car market (more accurate) lists as #5 -$600 to #1 - $11,100. The car is extremely solid. Look at the original post for intial pics, and I will upload current pics over the weekend as I take them.
Feedback would be good as well. Contact me at (423) 921-8753, and if no answer leave a message and I will return your call. You can also email to sbbegley (at) charter (dot) net - make the obvious corrections, in place to prevent spam 'bots.
Thanks!
Steve

Yeah, I know I'm slacking. Work has been busy and I haven't had the time to get it out of the garage and photograph it.
This is a group that likes to talk, and gives constructive feedback. How come none here? Am I priced too high?
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for the pointers. I will get current ones show and posted within the week. Be prepared for a barrage. I will shoot everywhere I can possibly fit the camera, so I can get true and honest (hence valuable) feedback from you guys.
Thanks again Jaunty.

As promised, here are the pics. I took them just a bit ago this morning. I also have a Quicktime movie of the car starting if I can figure out how to edit it and get it posted. For now, the pics.

I would like to get your honest evaluation of teh asking price of the car. I am not trying to rip anyone off, nor do I want to be ripped off. I would like to have a mutually beneficial sale for boh parties involved.
I have not taken pics of the extra parts of the car, but can if needed. I have the Olds door panels with the correct trim, but they are in rough shape. Basically the chrome trim is good, the panels would be used as a template for recovering the existing ones.
I have a lot of mechanical parts as well - the original 2 bbl intake and carb, various AC/Vent controls, headlight bezels, trim pieces, etc.
The rear bumper needs rechroming. The inner sail panels on the rear deck need completed. It has new exhaust, but a slight leak that I haven't gotten stopped yet (haven't taken an impact wrench to it yet). Minor trim pieces to be installed yet.
Thanks for any input you provide.

I could only get 4900.00 for my 66 Sfire which was slightly better that your Dynamic with many new parts, all correct with not a thing missing, nice paint, redone interior. This car ran great with new dual exhaust and rebuilt engine. Your Dynamic is nice but these cars are a hard sell in my Opinion.

Nice car, but what door panels are those?
Also, I'd be terrified of that engine running with the hood up, with the top fan shroud /cover missing. Not trying to nit-pick, but you should try to locate one (or the next owner should!).

Buick. At least they have Buick emblems on them. With a username like that, I figured you would know that, but maybe it's been a while since they ate it. ;-)
Agreed. Funny, most of the older cars I have had previously had an exposed fan - but I certainly agree with yoru point.

What part of the country are you in? I don;t know if geography makes a difference or not, but I am curious.
Thanks for the valid inputs, guys. I appreciate it, and keep the comments coming!

I agree with Oldsmaniac on the price. My thoughts were $3500 - $5000. That is a nice looking car and if I had somewhere to store it I might be interested. I have always liked the 65 Olds big cars. I think a cool build would be a 65 Dynamic with a 66 Tri carb intake and a 4 speed. Good luck with your sale.

I think its a nice looking car. Maybe go over it alittle and try to fix a few things. Clean up under the hood. I also noticed that the switch pitch trans wiring is missing. Might wanna hook that up. The switch pitch is bad A**!! If its as nice as it looks i would think you should be able to get $6000 maybe alittle more out of it. Might not be fast, but in time. Good luck with your sale.

Thank Gray. The color is Lucerne Mist Metallic, straight from the 1965 color manual. I matched it up at the local NAPA auto place and had some rattle-bomb paint mixed in a can to paint some interior trim pieces.
I have traded the car off now, so it's gone. Thanks for the interest and comments.
