71 442 convertible

SOLD

1971 442 Convertible. after washing this car i found a couple more areas that will need work. the front driver side floor pan has a couple bad spots in it. the trunk pan also has a bad spot in it with some pitting on the opposite side. front fenders are bad and was replaced in it's past with 70 fenders. the passenger door is mostly solid but does have a poped seam on the bottom about half it's length. the driver door is very solid. trunk lid is nice. hood has fiberglass dammage and the metal on the bottom may need just a little work. the driver side quarter is rusted around the wheel well. the passenger side is mostly solid but down low behind the tire will need a little attention. i ran out of time tonight but can get even more pictures. THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE A POSI LIKE I ORIGINALLY LISTED. sorry for the wrong info. $6500

Glad you offered it to this group first. Wash it replace the light and air the tire and it will sell buy it now in a couple hours on ebay. I hope someone on this group buys the car. A 1971 442 is actually very low production and one of my favorite years. If I didn't already have one and you were in California it would already be in my garage. Want to trade it for a cool 1971 Vista Cruiser 5 speed stick car? You car is an easy sale and would make a really nice driver. Lee

maybe the coolest thing about that is the color, if it's factory. was there a maroon color in 71 ?

How about some decent pics of the trouble areas, frame, dash/cowel area, rockers, door & trunk lid seams. trunk floor etc...Some interior shots etc...
Does this car have southern rust or New York rust?

In 1970 they called that color Burgandy Mist. It looks like the interior may be the same color?

Should sell easily for that price.

On a separtae note I see that your location is Brazil, IN. This resonated with me because my last house, which was built in 1927, had a very cool raised pattern, brown brick with specs of other color in it, that was made in Brazil, IN. I lived in it for 9 years while restoring it.

Good luck!

that is neat. my great grandpa likely made some of those bricks.

A couple comments on the ad. I can tell by the auction that you are a very honest guy......that is good.

You are going no reserve. It is pretty gutsy because $3000 may buy the car. You have till 24 hours before the auction ends to end it if you get the feeling it is not going to bring enough money. You also should add your name and phone # for an out of ebay sale. Just say if you would like to inspect the car please call me at..... Perfectly legal on ebay auto sales. Good ad.

THANK YOU!!!!! i goofed up on that part. i was planing to list it with an opening bid of $6800 and no reserve. i fixed it. i listed it on craigslist for $6800 and was getting people all over the country interested in it. i just decided that if it is going to get the attention from across the country it may as well go to eBay.

Seen this car in person over 4th of July weekend when I was grabbing some parts for my 71 ...very nice ride. Needs some work for sure, but would make an awesome project for someone. It's alot cleaner than most other projects I have seen people tackle. Good luck with sale! Vega, buy this, it's right up your alley!
