We are pleased to present this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible. Equipped from the factory with a 455 / 365 hp motor, FE2 suspension, coupled with a deluxe interior, strato bucket seats and custom stripes, the 442 is considered to have the best balance of presentation, performance, ride and handling in its day.
The 442 Convertible presented here is no exception to that statement. Sold new at Stackhouse Oldsmobile, Inc., Youngstown, OH, this highly restored example is presented here in its original, paint code delete, Rally Red with white striping on pearl interior. It features its original numbers matching 455/365 hp V8, 4bbl Rochester Carb, Turbo 400 Transmission. Options include: U21 Rocket Rally Pack, W-27 Differential cover, Sport Mirrors, FE2 Heavy Duty Suspension, N47 Vari-Ratio Power Steering, JL2 Power Disc Brakes, Power Top, Sport Steering Wheel, Console, and AM Radio. This 442 also features the W25 fiberglass hood with forced air induction and rear spoiler. Only original or NOS parts where needed were used in the restoration of this car.
This premium example remains in concours condition cosmetically and mechanically and has been kept in a private collection for the last number of years. Documentation includes Protect-o-plate, original owners manual, original consumer information pamphlet, both original build sheets, original title, and dealer card with key numbers. Well this shows the car being built the second week of October in 1969 sooooo.....you figure it out.
There just are to many inconsistencies with this thing for someone to pay almost $100,000 for it.

The blue VIN sticker on the door is obviously a repro - heck, it's stuck on OVER the new paint (and poorly stuck on at that). Whoever printed this sticker is clueless that an October-built 1970 model would have been built in Oct 1969, not 1970... 
Of course, it's things like this that make me question "documentation" on fully "restored" cars.

When I got my car the cowl tag was hanging by one rivet & I can't remember if it had caulking in it. I was worried about reattaching my cowl tag by putting a hole through the center of the new rivets and using a small screw and nut with washers to crush the rivet. A couple people told me it was common to have the rivets filled with caulk so the hole wouldn't be seen anyway.
