1970 Olds For Sale
455 , bored . Is a 68/69 HO 4 Speed Block. Forged Flat tops.
"C" Heads, stainless valves, Hardened Seats, Comp Cams Guide plates, Screw in studs, fully adjustable rocker arms (Comp Cam roller Tips 1.6's) with heavy duty push rods.
Transmission was a new rebuilt 400 turbo short shaft that the guy obviously did not put in the heavy duty sprag, first time I really got on her, she broke the sprag. Still drivable, no second gear though. Body so so. Ram air hood (aftermarket). Rebuilt front end etc, stops great (drums all around). No issues other than tranny mechanically. I am in NorthEast TN (Bristol Area). Just no time or money to really fix her like she needs. menatour@gmail.com please put RE: Oldsmobile in so I wont skip over you. Can call 423.302.0459 Google Number.
Will add pics.

Re
As in, I was told this block is a 68/69 HO 455. Now that information I received could very well be incorrect. It is a 455, and the block has the nipple for the z-bar on block. That being said, I could actually take the time to get the number off the block. Heads are "C". So I might be misunderstanding what you are asking/questioning.

Again, I saw HO and assumed you were inferring it was from a Hurst/Olds, my bad.

Re
Most people associate HO as H/O. There were no 68 or 69 Hursts/Olds that were 4 speeds (except that one off for Demmer's son). Every 68-74 or so 455 has the boss for the Z-bar. Olds engines are generally refered to as High compresion or Low compression, not High Output. If you're calling it a High Output (HO) I apologize. One other thing to note is that when you're calling an Olds motor a 4 speed (yeah I know you said "block" not "motor" or "crank") that generally means it has a crank drilled for the pilot bearing and input shaft of a standard transmission.

Actually, I should have been more specific, I wasn't thinking clearly
It came from a 4-speed car is more "accurate" statement on my part.
I really hate to get rid of it, but other half is not happy with the money spent so far .

Ahh, wish it were a lazy boy I was getting
looking for 3k, don't believe I have any of the rebuild paperwork left. (that was in old house when it burned down). I will try to get a video on youtube up if I get some time, that way you can see/hear the old girl, she does have a nice sound to her. I will post a link for it here when I do.

I should mention that I will be taking her to get the tranny re-built. Will have warranty with it naturally.

Well, taking her in today to have the tranny rebuilt. Thought about throwing a new exhaust under her while it was there. Doesn't look like much interest, so it may end up with me another 10 years or so .

Ahh so nice to drive her again. Reckon the next part will be massaging the 12 bolt into a posi versus the peg leg. Nothing like smelling the tire on a downshift @ 40mph hehehehehhe, the peg leg does have its advantages in a weird kinda way

Update:
Tranny Rebuilt in good working order.
Seeing how there was no real interest I will keep plinking along with her
Think exhaust will be the next thing then the posi. If brother in law will finally give me a hard number on the Q45, I may have the leather seating soon

I hate primered cars. You can't tell what you are looking at,and they look even more half-assed.At least with the yellow, like the color or not,you can get a better idea of the potential of the car,or current condition.

Well, I was debating painting, the yellow was my first stab at a paint job, not unhappy with it overall considering my lack of painting skills hehe, thank god for lacquer. I do think a dark red/cherry or black is what it will get next though. 507Olds, think I should ditch the "c" heads and start looking into an aluminum set? Just a curiosity at the moment, but I keep debating that or a 4-speed automatic. (don't think she is going to sell so might as well keep plugging away at her)

Yes, the decklid is pretty trashed on the edge. I bought this car out of junkyard and someone screw the lock, so it has had water settling in there for years before I got her. I have a electronic lock so I may make a little stainless plate for now and go that route.
