matching numbers seems to be used quite loosely these days.

I would expect everything to be stock from and factory correct dates from Carb to Pan, You mentioned the carb is an edelbrock. Are all other parts correct for 1965?

Also, for 4500 dollars, folks on this website will probably request high-resolution pictures to be posted.

I'll agree with you there Tony except for the "factory correct dates". That too is part of the loose terminology floating around. A date code does not make a part correct or not. There is not "a date" to match. There is only a *highly* arbitrary window of time before before a car is made where a date is considered (only by self appointed Numbers Matching Police) to be numbers matching. Which is pretty much absurd, because either the part is correct or it isn't. The date code doesn't make it any more correct.
The lack of a clear universal definition results in an almost meaningless term. And in use, it *is* meaningless unless directly defined.
And *that* is what Joe said in one short sentence.

Believe me I have had several classics, this is one of two virgin cars I have owned the other A 1971 Chevy Shortbed California bed (stepside)

Which is the same casting number used on every 1964-65 330 motor that Olds built. This may very well be the original motor, but the casting number alone is not proof and certainly doesn't "match" anything. Now, if you have the Protect-O-Plate and the unit numbers on the P-O-P match those on the engine and trans, then the car IS, in fact, a numbers matching car (well, at least one head is matching, since that's the only place with the unit number stamped on the engine).

Of course, since you've had several classics, you already knew this.
