1961 Olds F-85

I would never be someone to tell someone else how to run his life, but a photo of the actual car, as opposed to that advertisement, might generate some of that serious interest you're hoping to attract. It is no more difficult to attach a photo of the car (or two or three) than it is to attach that ad.
After all, you do want to sell this thing, don't you?

Thanks for your unsolicited advice.
This is a specialty car offered to those who know what it is and actually want one....and have the $ to back up their good intentions.
Any such person that has more than a tire kicker/picture viewer interest will be happy to email for info or perhaps even do something revolutionary like call and talk on the phone.

How the hell is anyone going to KNOW how wonderful a car it is if you don't take a moment to show them? You expect them to take your word for it?
For example, you describe the car as having "little rust." What does that mean? That'll give some people pause right there because sometimes "little rust" to a seller means the back end is about to fall off to everyone else.
And what do you mean it's a "specialty car?" It's a '61 F-85, for pity's sake. Everyone knows what those are. Was it owned by President Kennedy or something?
The '61 -'63 Cutlasses and F-85s, nice cars that they are, and they do have a following, are nowhere near as collectible as those from the '64 to '72 era. Parts are not reproduced for these early cars, and locating what one might need to fix anything can be difficult.
In short, these cars are only so valuable and so collectible in the marketplace, and that would be true even if it were made of spun gold.

FYI, I am no noob with classic cars and know exactly what I am doing and why (even if you dont) so you can save your 'advice' for someone who may need it.
If you know what a '61 F85 is and actually want to buy one feel free to contact me at the above link. If you dont know what one is or dont want one we likely dont have much to discuss. And if you just enjoy looking at car pics you can look at F85 pics here:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=61+olds+f85
Thanks for the thread bump, and have a nice day.

Did you buy it?
Thanks for the pics. Did you get his permission first before you posted them? Did you ever find out what makes it a "specialty" car? From those photos, it's certainly appears to be in nice shape, but it doesn't look much different from any other '61 F-85.
I have to admit, though, that I like the two-tone color scheme. There is nothing more quintessentially '50s or '60s American car than a white roof over a red, blue, etc., body.
By the way, what's that red convertible next to it?

I just found the whole thing to be silly. Is this some new concept in automobile selling? Tell people the car is for sale but refuse to show them any photos unless they prove in some undefined way that they're not just tire-kickers?
Sorry, but in the car-selling business, you're going to get tire-kickers. It goes with the territory, and sometimes a tire-kicker turns in to an actual buyer.

The car is sold.
(NO thanks to you two juvenile idiots BTW)
As per usual, tire kicking jerk weeds will mostly just critique ads, waste time, talk nonsense, and demand/collect pics. A serious buyer will ask informed detailed questions and show up immediately thereafter with cash. This is the case nearly 100% of the time. I have been doing this for nearly 40 years, I do know the drill.
BTW sicky, the pics you got were from the net. Google is your friend. haha

Jaunty's douchery is a case study in how NOT to act on a forum.
And no, there will be no pics posted. Thanks

How high school of you! What other high-brow insults can you think up?
We wouldn't expect them. It's not your car to show pictures of anymore, anyway. As I said, maybe the new owner will be not be so anally retentive.
And no, there will be no pics posted.

As usual, Jaunty makes me laugh: "I would never be someone to tell someone else how to run his life" he says. Then he goes to great lengths to do exactly that. The seller starts off by trying to give him reasonable answers, but he doesn’t (well didn’t, but he does now!) know who he was dealing with, i.e. the self-described "resident annoyance" (and his new friend).
Some people are too busy belaboring their own point of view to learn anything. You don’t learn with your mouth. The seller happens to be exactly right. Posting pics on a public forum is generally for the amusement of those who are not actual buyers. Whether you agree or not, its HIS choice to make. Just like those who choose to be an annoyance get to make THEIR choice.
