I need a little help here

Does this car have the engine he says it does?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...SS%3AUS%3A1123

He says it's the 455 V-8. I have a '73 with the 455 V-8, and my engine compartment doesn't look anything like this one. The alternator and battery are on the passenger side, and in my car they're on the driver's side. The A/C compressor is on the passenger side in my car while it's apparently in the middle on this car. The air cleaner doesn't look right, the coolant overflow tank is all wrong, and the entire view of the engine from the driver's side just plain looks wrong.

Is this a Chevy engine?

THIS car has an engine compartment that looks like mine.

I think it is a Caddy engine and possibly he got his pictures mixed up....almost looks like a Cadillac ht4100 engine found in sevilles and the like.

I agree, I have 73 delta 88 convert and is like th 98 you showed. Alternator on driver side, ac on pass side. His picshows ac in the middle and alternator on pass side. Dont know looking at mind how I could possible put the ac in the middle. Far as I know mine is all original. Pretty car though...

It's not a Olds engine. I tend to agree it that it is a cadd engine. Looks like the one I had in my 75 Cad

You can always go back and click "edit" on the lower right of any message you've posted and edit it, even if you posted it long ago.

I hadn't thought of this. All you can tell in his two photos of the engine is that the car it's in is white, which is the color of the car he's selling. But if you look closely at those photos, you can see that the distance between the edge of the engine compartment opening and the edge of the fender is only a couple of inches. It's SHOULD more like about 6 inches on these cars. I think you're right about the mixup. I'll send him a "question" and see if he responds.

A/C compressor in the middle was a Caddy thing for a long time.

I've sent the seller a note about this. It'll be interesting, for at least minute or two, to see if he responds.

He has responded and has acknowledged the mistake. He has added additional, correct photos of the engine, but he didn't remove the wrong ones (at least when I looked).

Since the auction has received 1 bid, he probably can't remove anything from the description, only add to it, per ebay rules, so that's why the wrong ones are still there. But at least he fixed it. The ones he added really do look like an Olds engine!

The last picture is correct for an Olds engine. Maybe that's the one he added because the others are still there.
