Not exactly the best way to win friends and influence people on a Oldsmobile site

Well let's see here the 394 was blown and you wanna talk about reliability chev 350 is reliable and I can walk into and parts store across the country and get a part if need be and when the hood is down who cares what's powering the car .

What everyone means is, to most any Oldsmobile fan, and that's likely to be your audience for this car, to take an Oldsmobile and put a non-Olds (especially Chevy) engine in it is considered sacrilege.

Yes, the Chevy engine is reliable and parts are readily available, but that's not the point. Yes, you can't see the engine when the hood is down, but, again, that is most assuredly NOT the point.

Good luck selling it.

Hey, I know people who put mayonnaise on a hot dog. It's most certainly edible, but it doesn't mean I'd want to do it!

No you put mayonnaise on corn dogs ,but besides what's under the hood it is a beautiful car got the pictures from when I first found it,would of liked to keep it orig but when the block has a hole where the piston went through it and 394s are a scarse engine you go for the next best thing

Hey, I said good luck selling it.

The REAL point in all this is that Olds fans appreciate the innards and especially the power plant of the car as much they do its exterior. For many, an Oldsmobile IS the engine. The history and heritage of the Rocket V-8 is what attracts many to Oldsmobile in the first place.

The Super 88 of that era came with a 394. That's part and parcel of the car. Yes, you'll find people on here who swap out an older motor sometimes, so not 100% of Olds fans feel this way, but those who DO make an engine swap always put in another Olds engine.

I understand I was genna put the 455 olds rocket I have in there but it wouldn't fit,so I put that engine on my 30 ford coupe I have ,so instead of hacking to death the engine compartment I used an engine that would work
