1964 olds 98 4 door great shape $3000 chicago burbs

I'm selling my grandmother Inlaws 1964 olds 98. It has the 394 ultra high compression motor that runs great. 3spd auto trans. The inly issues is the brakes need to be rebuilt. Car is currently not safe to drive. Body is really straight, and it appears to be an original paint car. All the trim is there and in good shape. The rust on The trunk is from the paint shrinking and cracking, most if it is surface rust. The interior is 100% factory and in mint condition, it just needs to be cleaned. Pmease contact me if you are interested and would like more pics or more information. 3000$

A new paint job, some brakes and a good detailing and this thing would look like new. It probably needs a tune up and maybe a little Freon in the AC. I think your price is reasonable. There is no a huge demand for these cars because most folks want A body cars. Interesting grandma did not go for power windows. This could be a nice car for doing weddings. I hope it gets a good home and somebody that treats it like it should be treated and don't put stupid wheels on it.

Interior looks immaculate. According to area code,is it in Ill.? Would make someone a "sweet ride" with a nice paint job. Larry

Yes interior is almost in new condition. I did not get a chance to clean it yet, or vacuum the floors. this is the barn fresh condition in the pictures. And yes I'm in illinois. Someone please buy this thing, the money is going to a great cause. I would rather sell it to someone on here who would appreciate it rather than destroy it by adding huge rims and gaudy stuff to it.

Best of luck selling it,and stick to your thoughts of not selling it to someone to ruin it with 24" Rims, Purple pearl paint, and Cowhide interior.A few years back ,I turned down a huge offer for my car ,by a pro football player ,because I knew he had crazy intentions for it. I never regretted my decision. Larry

Two big if's. (1.) If I had a place for this car and (2.) If it was not so far away. I would buy this thing and put some paint on it and fix all the little stuff. I have no idea what I would do with it then since I have absolutely no use for it. It could just be such a nice car with so little effort. I could probably have the biggest car at the Oldsmobile meets.

I agree with you redoldsman. Someone needs to buy this thing and drive it. It's too clean to sit around in my driveway

Very cool car! I saw your Craigslist add last week when I was browsing. It is a clone of my first Oldsmobile (only mine had blue interior and was in worse shape). Good luck selling it. If only I was closer or had a truck and trailer to pick it up.

BTW, check under the rear seat for the build sheet.

I wouldn't assume the build sheet is there to be found. It wasn't standard practice to leave them in the car at all, let alone in a particular location. Second, your car, if I'm reading the VIN correctly on your protect-o-plate, was built at Lansing, and the Lansing plant was meticulous about not leaving the build sheet in the car. The vast majority of cars in which build sheets are found were made at a plant other than Lansing.

I certainly would not tear the car apart looking for it. The chances are quite high that there isn't one to be found.

I already checked under the seats and did not find anything. That explains why it is not there

Having said all I did above, I wouldn't assume that just because the build sheet, if there is one to be found, isn't under the rear seat means that there isn't one at all. The most common location when they're found is taped to the top of the gas tank. You won't find that unless you drop the tank, and no one does that just to look for a build sheet. They're found when the owner is in the process of taking that section of the car apart for some other reason.

Other locations reported for finding build sheets are under the headliner, under the carpet, under the front seat, under the rear package shelf, and inside one of the doors.

Ok thanks for the info. I doubt I will find any build sheet, but I bet it is still hiding in one of those spots though

But remember that yours is a Lansing car, which pretty much guarantees that there is no build sheet at all.

All the chrome is still perfect, except for the rear bumper that has minor pitting that will buff out mostly

Why are you blocking out the license plate when we can see it in one of your earlier photos?

That really is a nice car.

Too bad it's too far away from me, as well.

Did you put an Edelbrock carb on it? If so, make sure you setup the manual throttle valve correctly for the Slim Jim transmission. I tired to put an aftermarket carb on mine and couldn't get the transmission to shift correctly.

Someone was selling a green '63 model down here, with the posts and manual windows, this one is much nicer. The other car had the chrome rims and blackwalls, they just don't work on a Ninety-Eight. I wish something like this had turned up down here when I could afford it. This magnificent survivor deserves a good home.

I couldn't read the POP too well but this appears to be a 3819. I had one in black with grey leather and cloth. Does the A/C work? Have you had up in the air to examine the brakes? Have you changed out the carb? If so, do you still have the original?

I'm going to be in downstate IL over the holiday. I'm looking for something I can leadsled and this may fit the bill.

What is a 3819? The brakes will need a new master cylinder, prob lines, and wheel cylinders. I would not trust any of it

Also the AC clutch has been removed at some point, so no it doesn't work, it's from 1964 and original. Everything is still all hooked up though

Can you provide some photos of the engine, underside around rockers, inside of doors at the bottom, underside of trunk and the springs? Also how many miles are on it?
