72 Olds detailing
Last weekend I spent about 20 hours getting my 72 ready for the 2014 Greenfield Village Motor Muster this weekend. I completely wet sanded the car with 1000 grit sand paper then wheeled the car with 3M super duty rubbing compound, 3M Finesse, Meguires #9 swirl remover, Ibiz wax and lastly hand waxed with Meguires ultimate polish. Here are some pics of the progress.

1000 grit? I finished my clear coat with 1000 light / then 2000 wet with an air advantage orbital finish sander 3/32 stroke. / an then 3000 wet with the same from The Auto Body Store. Great site to learn. Autobody101. All professional's. It already shined before I hit it with the buffer! Easiest buffing I have ever done. I will never wet sand by hand again!!! Other than tight spots. Came out like glass. I did put 3 coats of clear on it figuring I would be sanding 1 off. Just a tip.
Nice car!

Looks nice! I got a Porter Cable DA buffer and a bunch of different Chemical Guys pads last month. I'll be tackling the 30 year old paint on my Viking Blue '72 442 in the near future. Anything I do will be an improvement....
