wheel cylinders for 59 Olds

I see Fusick wheel cylinders for around $50 each compared with about $10 each for those sold by C-Tek. Why such a difference? Anybody had experience with C-Tek? Thanks Tim

I haven't but for that price I think I would give them a try. Good chance they might be the same and made in the same place - China.

Likely one is low grade Chinese garbage, while the other...

... may be low grade Chinese garbage.

For the price, I'd get the cheap ones and see how they work. If they start leaking too soon, you can try the expensive ones, but you may discover that they are the same thing.

By the way, I haven't checked the part numbers, but these are probably also available from you corner parts store.

Don't know what model you have. Rock auto lists Dorman and centric.
Whatever you buy, I would open up and inspect inside before installing. If assembled wrong or defective it is easier to deal with it before installing.
Been there.

RockAuto also lists Wagner for about $10 each. That's what I'd go with. Don't expect any of them to be made in the US unless you find NOS GM parts.

I looked at Rock for 59 Olds 98, missed Wagner. Yes, I would buy Wagner if available.

I'm appreciative of what Fusick has done for Oldsmobile owners, but as an example, Thorntons sells the 1965-70 B-body dual exhaust manifold for $229. Fusick sells the same manifold for $269. It's the same part made at the same Chinese foundry.

So am I, and I've said many times that they're the gold standard in the Oldsmobile hobby and that you'll never go wrong buying from them. BUT, they capitalize on this reputation, and they're among the most expensive suppliers out there with obnoxious minimum order policies and shipping costs. It pays to shop around because there are only so many manufacturers of the parts that all of the various vendors sell, and you'll often find the exact same part at very different prices.

A lot depends on wheather you are looking for front or rear wheel cylinders.
Rear wheel cylinders are available from many sources and are usually $10 or less.
Front wheel cylinders for 59's are a lot harder to find , and are typically $40 and up .
As others have said , most are made in China , so it's a crapshoot if you get a good one .
