Joe, I believe you are describing the pinch weld molding which surrounds the convertible top above the trunk. Fischer Body manual helps some but not much since the manual is a guide to professional body technicians. You can see some information by searching You Tube under "convertible pinch weld molding" Need a special tool to remove the molding off the clips. Original Parts Group sells repo moldings and clips which might give you an idea about what you are up against. I haven't done it either but a convertible top installer might help you out. Mine is loose to move back and forth and I need to fix it but car is not out of storage. Hope this helps a little.

There is two styles of this pinch weld molding. If you have reveal moldings. It has a screw at the leading edge by the quarter window that is hidden by the front of the quarter reveal molding. If you do not have the reveal moldings the front edge is different. Do you have reveal moldings at the top of the door and quarter by the windows?

The picture of my car in the avatar of this site shows no reveal moldings. I can provide another with the reveal moldings if you need to show you the difference.

The picture of my car here where it is drying from just being washed shows no reveal moldings (top of the quarter by the window and top of the door shell by the window) the other picture it has them. They come off different so that is why i am asking.

This what my pinch weld moulding looks like. It is sliding back and forth easily so I assume the screw is not there or loose. I believe Joe's 66 has the same moulding based on the picture he has in his bio. Neither I nor he know how to remove the moulding.
Thanks
Wayne

Ok so no reveal molding. So this is very easy. put the top down and pull it off. Yup that easy. Pull from the side at the forward point by the quarter window and it will pull off slowly. The clips pinch the pinch weld and wedge in the molding. when you do not have reveal moldings there is no screw
