1965 F-85 Deluxe 4-door trunk
Hey all I am restoring a 1965 Olds 4 door and the trunk was rotted out (of course) so I went a head and cut out and welded in a new one. The top deck where it drops down to the weather strip channel is rotted out. not only is the top piece rotted out so is the bottom piece that creates the lock in lip for the weather stripping. My questions is the 2 door back deck the same size as the 4 door? I have found some places that sell repop's for the 2 door but not the 4. Also does anyone know where I can get the lower piece that creates the lock in for the weather strip?

welcome to my world. Call Ames Performance-the Pontiac gurus they can answer if the rear deck filler will work for a more door. Hopefully it does and that's where i get a lot of my parts from.

Crap I looked up the part number for you in my Ames catalog L174F and will not work on a more door. However you can get great sections of car body from yards in the SW. I can assume that a more door 64-65 Cutlass, Skylark, Lemans will work maybe even a Chevelle. I sourced 2 new doors, the filler panel between the tail lights and a left front fender from a yard in New Mexico. Contacted a fellow Club member Joe (Rund to Rund) he hauled the parts and brought them to the Olds Regional Meeting in Dallas for a very fair price. Just an idea. FYI I have misc parts from the 64 build-no body parts.

OK, here's a bunch of pictures. The channel itself is hard to see, it looks like surface rust but from these other views I don't think it goes through anywhere. John

2BLU that looks like a great replacement. FYI-dieagonien, when your getting ready to cut the old out GM filled the seams with lead ( first picture), I heated mine a bit and scraped it out. Before I fit the new panel in, I wire wheeled the panel that would be hidden from your replacement panel then hit with a rattle can of Eastwood Rust Encapsulator and then primer so no more rust! See attached, just an extra measure of quality.
