Before I weld in the replacement deck filler panel, is this height difference Something I should tweak first? The mock-up trunk lid is slightly higher than the filler panel in the center.

On picture 2 the trunk lid edge looks like there higher too. Is the old trunk weather still on the car or a new one? Looks an early A body car? I have tons more of pics I can send on my 64_85 Pro-Touring. I needs to fit or it will leak even after to install the new weather strip.

There's no weather stripping, I was trying to hold the deck lid at the approximate height on the edges so it may be a little high on the sides. I wonder if I should buy some and the rubber bumpers that go on the back corners to space it up. This is a complete frame off restomod.

There are no rubber bumpers on my 64 trunk, just the hood. Good luck

Did you purchase a repro filler panel? If so where did you purchase and what is length and width?

alway fit weather strip before welding..it makes a huge diff...since the lid os low, and even..i think the strip will help a bunch

the factory uses a shim for raise the decklid..but theres a bodymans trick

you use a 2x4 under the arc of the trunk hinge and close the decklid..it pushes the decklid up..done it a million times..

I don't recall where I bought the panel, but they are available from several different vendors including Auto Body Specialties.

I stand to be corrected there is 2 round rubber bumpers, one on each end of the trunk lid-me bad. You see a little bit of the one in the picture
