I am rebuilding a 1961 S88 w/the 394. I am stcuk on the engine. I put the intake manifold on and it covers two front water ports and exhaust chambers on the heads. However each head bank still ahs an open port. Any ideas what they are for and can they be blocked off. Also does anyone know where I can get a blueprint picture of the 394. The shop manual doesn't help. Thanks Mike

Have you tried the Olds List Server for this question?

Hi Mike,
The two holes on the back of the heads that you are worried about are covered by, on the pass side, the heater valve, and on the driver side, by the throttle/trans control linkage. Shoot me an email if you need more help and/or pics. Greg drhotwheels@mybluelight.com
