Doug Thorley Headers???

I didn't really want to cross this bridge at this point but I have an opportunity to buy a brand-new set of these for about $400. I know absolutely nothing about headers I've been reading up on this on these forms and there's lots of opinions on Waze to go. The person who's helping me do the build despises headers because they always seem to leak. Imo that is a gasket or poor quality header problem. Here's the specs. For sale: Brand new Doug Thorley Headers for 1965-72 Olds/442, engine size 400-455. Part # THY-331. 3/8 flange and 14mm tubes. The engine they will be going on is out of the 70' Toronado W-34 with a turbo 400 Trans. I have a torquer intake that I'll be putting on this and possibly a heavier cam not sure on that yet. All in a 72' hard top cutlass. Or I can get a set of unknown headers for 75 bucks from an old build a guy is parting out lol.
Thanks

I never heard anything bad about those D-T headers. I always thought they were a notch above in quality but have nothing to base that on. I swear by Hookers with minimal fitment problems. If you get the D_T ones lets us know how they fit.

Will do. I'm kind of cheating considering the entire front clip of the car is off with no motor trans in it. I finally tracked out front fender for $200 I plan to jump on that baby. I'm kind of in the Parts gathering phase at the moment. Once I start ripping and tearing I'll have to get a thread started on my build haha.

Correct me if I'm wrong but did't the factory offer these headers as an option for W30 cars?

I just thread searched dougs. That turned up a little bit more than the full name. It seems apart from this thread everyone else has been more or less happy with them. Based on the picture I believe there long tube correct?? I have absolutely no idea about headers lol. Maybe I'll call the company with the part number tomorrow. N see what da say.

I have them on my 70 W30 4 Sp and I like them. Great for the money. I also had a set on a 70 Auto tran car and were great. Check with Summit and see what they sell for new now. The last set I bought a few years ago was under $400, may have gone way up?

You'll have to explain '14mm tubes'. 12.5 is 1/2 inch. I know these aren't 9/16 inch header tubes. 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 inch should be your minimum on a W34
