In addition to this one (I've been in contact with the seller) I now know of one more for sure and maybe 2.
Whoever thought they had the only one in existence better sell it fast, as they're getting more common by the day.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's so special about this piece?

Up until recently, it was thought that the 7028253 carburetor didn't exist, other than being identified in parts manuals. The appearance was that all '68 4-4-2 models, regardless of transmission, got the 7028251 carburetor. But, in just recent weeks, it appears that at least three 7028253 carburetors, confirmed at this site by reputable sources, have turned up. There are service replacement carburetors with this number, but these three appear to be originals, complete with a broadcast code (not on service replacements) and Julian dates of manufacture consistent with the model year of the carburetor. Service manuals say the "51" carburetor is for automatic transmissions and the "53" carburetor is for manual transmissions.

Are they any different in function?

By the way, thanks for indulging my curiosity, Randy.

Here's a couple of pics of the most recent eBay carb & some others - wish I had better pics of the restored 9/22/67 carb.

Interesting to note that the broadcast code changes from UB to UC between calendar year 1967 and 1968...I wonder why.

Seff it's extra 100hp with this carb. Jk

It's for guys that are purists and like to have all the date correct stuff on their car. Even the day it was made matters, I think.

That's okay.

Makes me want to research the dates on the stuff I have lying around. Might be sitting on a gold-pot!
