Pulley setup for '70 442 Convertible w/ A/C: 2 vs 3?!
I'm doing a full restore of a '70 442 conv. with A/C.
I was able to set it up with 2 belts instead of 3. The pulley has 3 grooves, so I know I'm not doing it "correctly", but it works.
Does anyone have a photo of what the setup should look like?

Thanks, looking forward to receiving the assembly manual from you. Would you like my email address or home address to send it? Remember, though, I need it for a 70 442 w/ A/C.
Or, maybe your response wasn't helpful?

HeavyDan, you said you have A/C but didn't mention whether or not you have power steering. It matters. Also, the fact it's a 442 and not a 350 matters, so you might want to ignore the diagram posted above.
This is why it was suggested you get an Assembly Manual. That and a Chassis Service Manual (which also has belt diagrams in it) will be the best money you ever spend maintaining your car.
Or maybe my response isn't helpful......

sorry, I was pressed for time
and this comes up over and over and over.
The very basic instruction manuals you should either own on paper or CD, or at the least register at wildaboutcars.com and access them via that avenue.
The Factory Chassis Service Manual, for your year or any similar year.
The factory Assembly Manual, which has all manner of diagrams per above.
That was nice of NOP to provide a clue sheet, but we also need to "teach you to fish" [as it were] and not just hand you info with no effort on your part.
Anything else?
