Bad news!
Check it out! ![]() Is this going to effect the engine when I torque the heads down? It isn't broken into the water jacket. If you look at the pictures of the engine when I dropped off the heads you can see that the alignment pin bore isn't broken (you might not be able to tell very easily on the small version, but I can definitely tell on the original). I guess I should call the machinist and tell him. He said it was warrantied for 90 days since I used his parts; however, I don't even know if there is a way he can fix that. Short of giving me a new block, or one that he has at his shop. ![]()

Ok, found this over at ROP. Seems like I am not the only one that has had this problem. What do you all think?

It could be that when the dowel was re-inserted after decking the block that little piece of metal broke off. If the shop was sure to recover it and can assure you that it isn't in the block someplace I agree with citicapp. You should be ok.

I called the shop today and they said they knew about it. They just forgot to mention it to me.
![]() Anyways, I guess I should make sure the chunk of metal isn't in the engine anywhere. If they can assure me of that then I should be fine.

So, that reply sounds as if it isn't a problem. Honestly, I don't think it would be, at least it doesn't appear to be in a place that would cause any kind of functionality problem.
