57 Olds engine swap
I have a 455 ci engine bored 30 over with 10.1 comp. I am going to install it in my 57 olds super 88. I plan on using a TH400 Mondello tranny with this engine. I don't think the two piece driveline will be strong enough for this combo. Should I change to a single piece drive line. Has anyone done this? whats involved?
Thanks |

I've done the same thing - only difference is I put a 425 Olds with a long tailshaft TH 400.. The only 'major' thing I had to do with the driveshaft is getting one made the correct lenght and notching only about 3/8 out of the X member frame to clear the U - joint.

If you observe work trucks, you'll see they use two piece drive shafts, doesn't mean your drive shaft is also strong but just wanted to observe that being a two piece in itself wouldn't mean it was weak or wouldn't handle more torque.
