Rebuilding my '66 425, need help.

I'm in the middle of rebuilding a 66 Delta 88, 425 4Bbl. Does any one know if there is someone selling headersthat are a bolt on fit? I also want to get a little more performance by upgrading my cam, any suggestions? Thanks!

Most sources show the A-body headers as fitting the B-body cars. The problem will be the shift linkage for the automatic trans if you have a column shifter. At best you'll probably need to modify the linkage. At worst you'll need to convert to a floor shifter. Note that Lokar sells a cable linkage that works with column shifters. This is another possibility to provide header clearance.

Just be aware that even for the listed applications, most headers require relocation of components or slight alteration of the header tubes to fit. This has been a constant source of frustration.

There are no headers that are a "direct" bolt-on. The "rear" steering box is in the way. Their is a company selling the drivers' side repopped factory "S" dual exhaust manifold for the drivers' side only for around $270 on Ebay. I posted a thread on "3/4 race parts for the 65-70 B-bodies." I show how I made a Toro exhaust manifold work and a picture of a dual exhaust shift lever, not to hard to make. http://www.classicoldsmobile.com/for...70-b-body.html Hope this opens. Ken

Here is a picture of m 1967 Olds 98 with home-made Toro dual exhaust with a torque-tube. Car weighs a slim 4680#, has working air-cond, 3:08 posi, swicth-pitch trans. I shift into "lock-up" stall at the 60' mark. Drive-in with drag-radials, runs 14:18@100mph, drive home. Later, Ken

Thanks for the info.

Most everything I've seen is spot on with what you guys already said. I did find that a company called Thornton Reproductions is manufacturing a manifold that allows you to install dual exhaust without any trouble from the steering box. I think I'll just skip the headers & go that route. Thanks.
