Hello guys. So I've been searching everywhere to find what size cam comes in the 1965 425 4 barrel carb version. And its not the toronado 425. I know that for sure. I know one motor is the 9.5:1. Another motor is 10.5:1. And another is 10.25:1. (pretty sure about those compression ratios) I dont know if that makes a difference or not. Its hard finding specs for this motor.

I want to keep this motor to factory specs. Even if it means searching for parts forever or getting a custom made cam. If anyone could help me out that would be great! Thank you!

So there was only one size cam that came with that motor??

Toronado's didn't come out until 66' I think.

She is the chick who bought the 425 stuff from me. That was a 10.25:1 motor. And yes the Toro didnt come out till 66. In fact it was motor trends car of the year for 1966. Cool car.

So from the 65 cams im guessing this it the one that would have been in it.

I would recommend using a more modern grind when you build the motor. You can make everything else stock, but ghive it alittle more kick with a better cam

Ah you guys kick ***! And yea that's right about the Toronado in 66.

Josh: I think you're right. I could give it a more mild cam, even though that motor is ridiculous from the factory already. What kind of cam do you think would be good for it??

And. This motors suppossed to be the 10.25:1???

Well its a 45* cba, so it will have to be a custom grind. But the cam all depends on what your doing. Car weight, converter, headers, carb, compression. So maybe wait alittle while until you get a good plan. Sh*t you still need to get something to put it in. Unless we put it in that camaro you got! And im not talking about it driving around in the passanger seat. LOL


Yes that motor was 10.25:1 10:1 can make a really nice street motor. Just gonna have to run premium gas.

Haha. You know about a week after I got the motor I pulled the seat back out to fit my friends engine hoist in there to get the block on the engine stand. That camaro is like a truck.

But yea I want to be able to run on pump gas thats easily available. And of course my motor will have headers. That's my favorite feature of a motor. I do have a lot of thinking and math to do. AND more research. But that's the whole fun to it. Oh, and measuring. I do want an olds to put it in. I dont want to put it in the camaro, but it would make for a nasty 3rd gen.

Not necessarily. Most cam grinders can use a 39 degree core, there's enough meat on there to do both in most situations, unless your doing something fairly radical.

On the other hand he's right, decide on your needs, wants and specs. Then get a cam to go along with the rest.
