torker manifold

Has anyone had problems with fitting alt and a/c brackets to the torker manifold.If so any solutions would be appreciated since modifying cast iron isn't the easiest thing.

You shouldn't have any problems fitting brackets to any aftermarket Oldsmobile manifold. The only fitment issues you will have with an aftermarket Olds intake manifold is that the stock HEI distributors didn't fit the old Edelbrock O4B intakes. You also might have hood clearance issues if you put an aftermarket intake on a Toronado. Other than that I've never heard of any problems fitting aftermarket intakes on an Olds engine.

BTW, the Torker is cast aluminum and the brackets are stamped steel.

The brackets that mount to the heads and manifold are cast iron for a/c and alternator bottom mount on a 65 cutlass.The manifold fits the engine fine but where the bracket goes over the valve covers the bolt holes don't line up.Sorry for any confusion in my first post.

I had to reshape (bend) the upper alternator bracket to line up with the mounting point on the intake, but even then it was never perfect. I would always have to loosen up all the bolts to get everything aligned, and then gradually tighten them up... less than a perfect solution.

For the a/c bracket, I had to grind down mounting points on the bracket to get the clearence necessary.

Perhaps the best solution is if guys with later model bracket systems have had no issues with the alignment, then perhaps you should "upgrade" to the later model brackets.

You are correct, the AC bracket is cast iron (I didn't think of that). Fortunately, I've never had any problems with brackets mis-aligning on cars with aftermarket manifolds. Sorry... maybe it is because I've only had experience with B/C bodies.

I don't know about the A/C bracket because I didn't use it but I DID use the right hand style alternator (for A/C) bracket on the torker on my car without any issues. I could take a photo of how it fits if you wish.....

On my '71 I had the A/C bracket modified..the hole in the bracket
did not line up with the hole in the manifold. We sectioned it, and then TIG welded. Let me know if you need a pic..it looks like GM.

Here's a pic of the bracket, I sectioned it by cutting through the hole, and basically creating a slot long enough so I could install a bolt. looks like I need to repaint it
