394 hard to start

Hi All,

I was hoping someone here could help me out with a starting problem with my Starfire.
If I leave the car for a couple of weeks and then try to start it, I have a lot of trouble getting it to start. I always have to pour a shot of gas in the carburetor and try to start it. I have to do this about 5 or 6 times before it finally starts.
I had the carburetor rebuilt and set up at a local garage but still the problem persists.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Thanks,

the fuel pump is week. i had a 62 dynamic 88 that had a week pump and done the same thing. i changed the pump with another used one i had and was fine. these pumps are rebuildable. i believe kanter has these rebuild kits but i am not sure of that. these have a vacuum pump that is part of the fuel pump.

That makes sense.
I had a fuel pump that was leaking and I replaced it with another used one last year.

Thanks,
