No, it advances it, I believe. If I understand correctly, moves Torque earlier, and might decrease peak Hpr.

Thanks Edin, It should look very similar, as yours was the primary model. Although, I think by the sheets you may edge me by half a fender.😀

What stall rpm/type did you end up going with on yours?, and what ratio rear end? I know you were eventually going for a manual, but thought you still had the auto for now.

I still have the auto, my old faithful th-350 (built up). I decided not to rip the engine apart just to drill hole for the pilot bushing and I really like my dual gate. Also I ended up with another Chevelle (1970) so I am going to put the M20 in the Chevelle behind 496 which works out better.

My combo is th350, 3.42 gears and Hughes GM25 BPO HD converter, 2500 advertised stall, it stalls around 2800 behind the 463. 295/50/15 tire.

Perfect, just the information I am needing. I spoke to Hughes they said 2500, Coan said 2800. I am a little cautious on a 2800 if it is going to flash to 3100 behind 3:23s. I need to double check with both of them as well.

Looks like you have a fun garage.

I will most likely stick with the stock exhaust, and here is why:

1) I have not seen any make of headers currently being made that is an ideal fit. All seem to have problems in one area or another. Although, I have not seen any reviews on DMR headers to know about them.

2) Air/Automatic/Power Brakes. I do not really want to mess with moving/ modifying all the brake lines, auto transmission lines, and all the brackets.

3) I already have the 2 1/4 exhaust from the manifolds back from Inline Tube.

4) I can use the extra money on a better stall converter and other parts.

If I was racing more, it would be a no brainer the other way, but it is mostly meant to be a fun cruiser. In the end, I know it is there and if I ever want/ need that extra power, I can always switch it out at that time.

Troy, If I had to do it all over again I would choose manifolds as well. The trouble I had with Doug's and ARH is not worth 30hp. I'm 100% sure that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Edin, I appreciate the viewpoint. I must admit the "kid" side of me keeps saying it's a must; but I keep returning to trying to stick with my original plans and holding to my primary goal when I started this build.

One goal the Mrs and I have talked about was taking it to the West Coast at some point and driving the coastal highway. I have seen some of your pics and videos, pretty neat.

Sorry I couldn't catch up with you this past weekend Troy. My wife's grandpap died at the end of the week and things got a little crazy. Call me this weekend if you want.

I think it is a good call for the manifolds. If it isn't crazy enough you always have your options, but based on your numbers...well you should be smiling ear to ear even with manifolds.

Troy, if you guys ever make it out here, please let me know. Would love to have you guys over for BBQ and few drinks and show you around. My house is on the outskirts of San Francisco and beach is right down the street.
Also there are car shows and cruises pretty much year-round.
I believe Mrs. and you would have a great time here, there is a lot more to California than people realize.

What a wonderful offer! If and when we get to that point, still a year and a half most likely away from that, we will definately look you up!
