Throttle Shaft Bushings

Have any of you guys attempted to replace the throttle shaft bushings on Quadrajet carbs.? Any help/tips would be appreciated.

Its been some years for me.
I purchased a kit from summit under the JET brand. The kit contained some bushings and a reamer. Enough to do several carbs.

The hard part for me was removing the throttle blades from the shaft. Those little screws are staked in and can break. I believe I ground the end of the screw off before removing. I sourced the small screws somewhere? after breaking a couple of them.

Yup. This is the trick. Just remember to re-stake the screws after reassembly to avoid sucking one into the engine.

You tube has a few videos of this process. This poster does a good job showing you and lists part numbers from mcmaster carr. The following links are 1 and 2 of 3 videos.

I bought my kit from www.quadrajetparts.com. Very easy kit to use.

I have a kit with the drill, some extra bushings and such if you want.

I replaced them on one of my carbs.

Not a bad job to do, as long as that is the only thing wrong with the carb. My carb turned out also to have issues with crap stuck in the little passages.

I had to use a drill press with a good vise. If the drilling is not straight the shaft will bind enough to make it hard to operate. Staking as advised above is a must.

That should be Quadrajet Power. Looks like a good job, haven't installed carb yet.

be careful not to press the bushings in to hard, sometimes it will split the base plate
