Looking to Buy a BBO, need builder recomendations.

So I'm looking to buy a turn key ready BBO, but need advice on who to choose to build it. I don't have the block so they would have to provide it.

Names I've heard thrown around after doing some snooping.

- Milan (heard great stuff, don't know if he takes orders, let alone how to contact him).

- Dick Miller

- This guy on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Oldsmob...1X7oIu&vxp=mtr

- Olds Performance Products

Any other guys that come highly recommended?

I'm looking for a quality build with some ***** just don't know who to trust, as It's an investment I don't want biting me in the *** later on.

Engine is for an everyday/long distance driver. RELIABILITY IS KEY, Respectable mpg and some power (450hp to 550hp would be nice).

So if you guys can recommend any builders, please drop their contact info below. Thanks!

Milan is good no doubt, but ask around, see what kind of feedback you get on me;-). Thanks and best of luck in your project.

I am one of them.... Where are you located? That may help people recommend a place near you. I agree with you, Spend the money to do it right the first time with a trusted builder.

You can pm Milan on this site. Just click on the link below and go through the thread until you get to him. His builds are always top notch. Reverse engineering his builds always show the data to be accurate, and best of all a lot of his builds end up going down the drag strip (and the numbers back up the HP figure).

I usually build my own, but based on feedback from this site id say Mark would be a good starting point.

olds builder

Cutlassefi. Great communication skill. No outlandish claims. Multiple skill sets. Probably has short block(s) ready to complete. Helps a lot (I mean "a lot") of people in the Oldsmobile community. Readily gives free and unrushed advice and recommendations. Calls a "Spade" a "Spade". Saved more than one Oldsmobile fan from abandoning the brand. Good luck with your build.

Mark definitely comes with a 5 star rating from me. He provided all the components for my 463 build except for the headers. You will be a partner with him on the build - before, during and after. Over everything, I wanted a dependable driver that would peel the tires off. Got that plus made a friend in the process. He even tweaked the tune on a trip to Dallas. Hard to beat his customer service.

Almost forgot. He will NOT cut corners, so know that going in.

BTR Performance (Bill Travato Racing) out of Rochester NY. Google it (http://www.btrperformance.com/). Hes not the cheapest but hes the best BBO builder around IMO. Check out the 496 specs.

Mark and I spoke. I'm looking forward to working with him. BTW that is Sexy! What kind of tranny/rear gear are you running? Does it make a good everyday driver with perks?

I still don't have it in the car but Mark said it idled at 9-950 I believe! I'll be running a TH-400 with 3600rpm stall and a 3.89 rear gear for now. This car will see the street when it's done!

I don't have problems with DMR at all. I bought headers and a starter from him and have had no issues with them. Dick will talk to you and he told me exactly where I would have issues with the headers. Because I know that minor adjustments would have to be made, I decided to buy them uncoated. After I fitted them in the car, they were removed and ceramic coated locally. No issues with the starter at all.

Dick is not the most personable person I have ever talked to, but the product I got from him was very good quality and is working well for me.

I know that others have had issues with DMR, but I would buy from him again.

Thanks much jeure. I appreciate your insight. I'm going to put an new engine together and will probably use his products. Love your HO tribute too. Love all '69's!
