Suggestions for engine builder in Missouri

I need some recommendations for a machine shop to build my 455, any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you're in the Kansas City area, consider Mann Speed Speciality. Don Mann used to race Oldsmobiles back in 60s & 70s and kicked butt and took numbers. His two sons run the shop now: Eric (cylinder heads) and Dana for engine building. They know Olds engines..

Im in St louis so KC isnt out of the question. Would like to find a shop in St Louis

Just curious as to what type of build you are wanting.Street or street/race or maybe race.

What hp and torq. are you looking for? Cubic inch ? A lot to think about.

HP and torq. arent really a concern. Mostly want a trustworthy shop that has experience with Olds engines. It will just be a Sunday driver.

So you want a basic build!Why not just do it yourself? There is several guys like Joe Padavano for one who could guide you along.

That is an option, I will still need a machine shop for the block/head work.

If you have all the parts to a 455 it would be straight forward process for most machine shops. The engine you have in mind is it together or apart?

Scott,
I had my engine built by MBJ Machine in Granite City, IL. The owner is Jim Moran and he has experience with the Olds engine. I don't know if he will do it or not because the last time I talked to him he was considering retiring.
He did a great job on mine. I built a strictly street engine and I am very happy with the results. Here is his number 618-797-1843. Here is a link to some Youtube videos of me redoing my engine. It was the first time I attempted this so don't expect professional results

I bought a motor from a member on here back in sept. that mann speed done in kc.they milled the top of the pistons .050 to lower the comp. instead of putting a thicker head gasket on it.Now I'm going to spend $400 dollars to get the comp. back up.
