Starting Problem
Hello all,
My 2001 Aurora doesn't like to start when the engine is cold. After I get it cranked and turned over, it will want to die again 2-3 times. After that, it runs fine and restarts fine. Until the engine get cold again.
I have an employee who will replace the starter for free. My question is, is it actually the starter, or will I be wasting money on an unneeded part?
Thanks in advance.

I guess my first question would be 3.5 or 4.0 engine? Second would be, does it crank but will not start or no crank? Third how many miles?

2. Cranks but will not start. Or, starts but then shuts off. Usually stays on after the fourth restart. The problem only occurs when it's cold. When it's warm, it starts and runs like new.

I wouldn't lean to much towards the starter. If you have a "service engine soon" light on, it will help point you in the right direction. If I were to guess, I would consider weak fuel pressure, or consider the failure of an engine management sensor. I had one with a faulty coolant sensor that would "trick" the computer into thinking ( I know, they don't really think, lol!) the engine was at operating temp, and didn't like to run cold.
