New guy
Hi All, Visited before but did not sign up...anyway, looks like a great, helpful, site. I am 47, live in Minnesota and my current baby is the 68 Cutlass Convertible you see here ( at least it said "file uploaded" ). Prior project cars include Camaro's,Mustangs, Caddy and another 68 gone missing with bit of help from my ex...

Thnnks, so far the engine is doing ok, it runs very well,
and idles almost as quietly as my Caddy northstar. It uses a lot of gas, but then I knew that when I bought it. So that really is not an issue with me. I bought it when we had that gas crisis in 1974-75, no one wanted those big cars then and I got a really good deal, sticker price was $9,100. I got it for $7,600. Later on in the summer of 1976 the dealer told me people found out GM was downsizing their big cars and they were going for full sticker price. This was only the second car I had ever owned. The first was a 1970 Cadillac coupe de ville. I am really glad I kept this car. |

Hello all. I'm James and I too am an Oldsoholic. I'm 36 and live in Huntsville Al.
My Oldsmobile dealings started back when mom had a 71 2 door 98. I loved riding in that car. As time went on I bought my first car and promptly traded it for my first Oldsmobile. It was a 78 Cutlass Brougham series. That was my first engine swap car from a 260 to a 73 350. I have been through a few Oldsmobiles in my life but have only one currently. It is a 72 W-30 Sports Coupe. Anyway, I have been mechanicing on cars since I was 14 when I helped my older brother build his first motor, a Pontiac 389 for a 66 Grand Prix. He still owns the car and it reminds me how I got started working on this stuff. I have 2 children and my oldest is 12. He and I are starting on a 67 Chevy truck for him to drive when he gets older. I like helping you guys think of the less obvious things that get over looked but I don't visit enough to get all the posts read. I will help when I can. I think this site has a great start... |

Hey Everyone,
The names Jeremiah Jackson i live in Washington state, Originally from Astoria Oregon. Im only 17, but i have been working on cars as long as i can remember, now i have the technical skill to work on my own vehicles and fix my friends, However i cant wait to go to a technical school and further my education. I was a die hard ford man until i found, thats right found my 69 4-door cutlass. I put a battery in it, and got a set of keys made for it and started it right up. It had sat for 3 years, i figured it was dead. Its all original with 127,000 miles. It ran and drove great, but not enough power, so im rebuilding the engine as we speak, and ill be repainting the car soon. I have access to all the specialty tools, and a paint booth for to do this work through my high school power mechanics class. Which luckily has saved me a lot of money on machine work. I drive a Jeep wrangler daily, and once my car is done you will see me at the dragstrip on the weekends. lol

Intro from a 88 Guy
On a few forums, found this today. I had 2 > 1950 Olds 88 club coupe's in Chicago way back. one was a light gray primer with Red rims Zephyr gears & a later 4 barrel and manifold, it hauled! The other was a Hydro.
Bought a 50 Olds 88 coupe today in Fla. was searching the web when i found the Olds forum. Have 9 cars now, sorry 10. Mainly 50's Buick's & a 56 Studebaker Power Hawk it's a coupe. I'm selling off most, keeping a few. Thats when i knew i need another 50 Olds 88 coupe. Had about 125 cars so far nothing in show shape, projects i drive them while i work on them, been all over the USA chasing Old iron |

Greetings! My name is Oskar and I’m 40 years old, currently living in Kansas but originally from southern California. I’ve been looking over this site for a little while and decided I’d like to join in. I’m not much of a computer guy outside of work so I’m new to online discussion groups, but this looks like a great forum and I just can’t pass it up!
My reason for joining is my beloved 1970 Cutlass 'S' holiday coupe. It’s been in the family since 1973 when my dad bought it used – I can still remember riding in the back seat as he drove it home from the dealership (so yes, this IS my father’s Oldsmobile!). It’s a 2-bbl. 350 with A/T, A/C, P/S, P/B, and vinyl top. Aspen Green on the outside, dark green on the inside, and as far as I know it’s all original. It’s in good shape for it’s age: got a couple leaks and some minor cosmetic issues, but with just over 82k miles it’s fully drivable and runs clean (perhaps not clean enough for some these days). My goal is to restore it to showroom beauty, keeping it as close to original as I can – I’ve always thought it was the coolest-looking thing on wheels, so no need to mess with it. The exception, of course, would be under the hood: I want as much power and overall driving fun out of it as I can get! And that’s why I’m here – looking for ideas and advice, and to have contact with other Olds fanatics who too are on the path toward Rocket-powered bliss. I don’t have a lot of mechanical expertise save for some infrequent tinkering (and a rebuilt Briggs & Stratton on my lawnmower), but I’m looking forward to tearing into my Cutlass and turning it into a glorious muscle car. Thanks to all who make this site happen, and for having patience with a novice like me. |

My name is Phil, I live in Southport, NC (30 years), i am 61 years old. I work as an equipment technician at a local golf community. I also have a small auto body shop here at my house that I work in part time. I own a '91 Olds Custom Cruiser which is my daily driver. I also enjoy collecting license plates and playing drums. Always glad to help out other members with any problems or questions that I might could answer.

Hi, I seemed to have missed my introduction earlier, so here it is.
I'm Don from the ozarks,well..the flatter part of it anyhow. Been living here all my life and enjoy the four seasons that this part of the country allows. Oldsmobiles weren't my first love so to say, I think olds picked me. Been a gearhead for as long as I remember. My Ford brother had something to with it, as well as my brother in laws mopar habit. It probably started with a childhood friends father who worked for GM at the KC area plant. He had a new olds (442) every couple of years. I think the sherwood green with gold stripes left an impression on me. Fast forward to driving age, I needed a car. A buddy had a 71 cutlass with leaking trans and that started the snowball rolling. For 65 bucks I had a car and the attention to get it going. I later found a sweet old ladys' ride just like it. Been attached to that one for over 20 years now, and nothing seems to break my grasp of it, even now. So keep those olds rolling, I sure enjoy mine.

Thanks for the welcome! Some info on the car, my wife gave me this car as a valentines day gift a few years ago. Pretty cool gift! The top was "sunk" into the body approx 4" shaved handles, lowered, and has the original 324. I am currently replacing the cam and putting a 3 x 2 setup on it. All the body work was done prior to me receiving the car. I had heard that the car was in custom rodder when the top was done. I have to find the guy we bought the car from to see if that is the case. Just working on it little by little!

Don, welcome to our site, that '52 is really nice looking. Those must be 14' tubs on the back, they look huge! sthero, the chopped top is nice but I really think the body work on the front and back and removal of the bumpers is a superb job, whoever did it. Swede, those astro supremes are really, really nice. I just like the hot rod look from the fifties and sixties I guess.

My name is Rhett. I'm 40 year old canvas awning builder. I'm no stranger to this addiction having first been bitten at the tender age of 13. I belonged to a forum about 12 yrs ago and enjoyed the camaraderie that is shared among people with similar interests, especially with cars that aren't your typical Camaro or Mustang. To own an Oldsmobile can mean lots of searching for parts that can seem impossible to find, which to me is fun and frustrating all at once. I can certainly respect you all who have the big body cars and are able to keep them as nice as they are. I myself own a 4 spd '68 442 convertible which I adopted in '86 for $1700. While these aren't especially rare, the fun of it is, to me at least, is talking to people who owned one way back when. Right now the car is in pieces; a victim of priorities (wife, kids, mortgage, etc.) Sound familiar to anyone here? I'm climbing back in the saddle and while I'm no expert in any one field, I've done a little bit of everything. Thanks to the moderators and members for making this an interesting and fun forum. New to this site, not to Olds
I just found this site last night while looking for stats on my convertible. My 91 is my 8th Cutlass, and my 9th Oldsmobile. I had an 88 Delta 88 or about 4 months until I made 500 bucks selling it
The car that started it all is a 1969 blue 4 door Cutlass with a white roof that my dad got for free. We got hit in the side, which cracked the frame, so he gave it to me! I enjoyed driving it in the fields wrecking into and taking down trees(sorry, being Green wasnt "in" yet). My current car is a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible that I paid $135 for. Right now it is in the shop getting the top replaced. With that done, I will have $4000 into the car and it has 112k on the odomoter. If anyone has any idea how I can find production numbers on these cars I would appreciate it. I know the 88-91's were in low production, but dont know just HOW low. Good site to be on for an Olds Addict! |

I have always liked Oldsmobiles, but did not own one until June, 2003, when I found a one owner 1993 Cutlass Cruiser wagon with 33,490 miles. Its got 51,000 miles now 'cuz I only drive it in the summer when the weather is nice. I also own a one owner 1994 98 Regency that I found in July, 2004. After that one I had to promise my wife I would not buy a '95 in August of 2005. I'm not a gearhead, my favorites are 98's and station wagons. My dream is to some day a 1957 Fiesta wagon.
