Hi my name is Mary Ann, I have been missing from the forum for a while.....why I dont know...but I am back! Anyway I am in NY and 42 with 2 teens. I originally began with a plight to find parts to breathe life into our 69 Cutlass S that had unfortunatley caught on fire
. It was a lonnnnnggg road..we are still having a few things to get her back . SOoo..the car started out as my mom's (but I think dad had other ideas!!) in 71, we are the second owners. We had made changes thru the years..who would have thought to keep it all original?? Dad still driving it and now all the grandkids can' wait to get behind the wheel..they have to fight me first..![]() |

A poor olds fiend
I am a retired police officer for the City of Detroit, and I live in the formerly great state of Michigan. I am on my third 72 cutlass. I spent all the money I could muster building a 69 455 and on headwork with the original intention of drag racing my latest (had it twenty years) but after I got it running. on a 90degree day, I repaired the a/c and and I realized it was too much of a nice car to cut up and race . I did a stop light drag during the Woodward cruise and beat up a beautiful super duty Trans am and the guy couldn't even stand to look at me, especially when he saw that my wife and kids were in the car and the windows were up with the air on. I love that torque. I am still looking for a vintage 71-76 custom cruiser for a tow car (I love the look) see you later.

Name is Troy... the 'sportynut ' handle is because of my Love for the Harley Davidson Sportsters I own .
I found this site while looking for a way to sell my collection of 66 - 70 Olds Toronados (I have 10 of them!). My Loves include my bikes (esp. the '62 ; Ruthy) and my Vans ('70s and early 80s Chevys) which I customize myself to haul my Bikes and family to the 6 annual events we attend . I'm a very social person and enjoy helping others where I am able (and dirrecting them to someone who can if I'm not), so hope ya all can feed my need to help out ...lol Wisconsin is my home . I am 40 yrs old and think quick is better then fast. |

Thanks OLDSGUY! I have been talking to Phil of the Toro club of America and he seems to think they will go fast. The trouble with selling a lot of ten cars is not alot of people have the storage to facilitate such a deal.
even if they were MG midgets or TR4s or something small.... ten of anything is alot.lol |

Greetings to all and thanks for a great site and sharing your knowledge.
My name is Brian, I'm 45 and live in beautiful Oregon (Oregon City Area). I'm fairly new to the site and probably have too many posts and questions but I thurst for knowledge. I'm married with three kids (one getting married in August) and two dogs. I love to hunt, fish and work with my hands. I came to Oregon by way of South Dakota, Montana, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. I can tell you this, there is no better place in the world to live than Oregon (just don't tell the Californians ). I bought a 1965 F-85 Cutlass for $500.00 from a freind as a project for my 16 year old son and I. I figured it would be good for him to understand how things work and since he's about to become a young man, the experiance and bonding is needed. The attraction to the car was the square lines and the fact that we have all the glass, chrome and the body is perfectly straight (no body work or dents). It has no interior except old torn seats and the motor and tranny were basically shot. We found a 425 in Montana that we've rebuilt and improved, bought a fresh TH350 and are now getting close to the interior. All in all it's been a very rewarding experiance (especially when the motor actually started!). I come from meager beginings, didn't go to college and started my career as a janitor and then welder in a railcar repair facility. I'm currently in charge of the commercial organization for one of the largest railcar manufacturers in NA and feel blessed. The sole purpose of this venture was to instill into my son the same sense of hard work and accomplishment that we were all taught as young individuals. Along the way, I've become a hard core, died in the wool Olds maniac. I can't wait to get this one done so that I can move onto a rag top 71 442 (which by the way, does anyone know where I can get one?). Thanks for knowledge, expertise and time! |

Ditto Oldsguy! My son loves to work on his car. Trouble is , he is the new generation and in so being , the jap cars are where it's at nowadays. max HP per cube nowadays is the 2.0 ... and all the computor junk confuses the issues when determining the problem (for me, not him).
Been done raised the boy on GM , and the occasional jap car....( I DON'T do Ford or Chrysler PERIOD)... His first engine swap was in a 1970 Chevy van... thru the pass door....paid him a $100 dollar bill for helping, so he could guage the going rates better ![]() |

Some weekends it is worse than others. Usually I don't sign on during the weekend because I am working on the car. They hit this particular thread because it is alway on the top, of course if I made a thread to top this called "put your spam here" then it would cover up this introduction thread and new members might miss it.

I have just joined the list and have also just become interested in cars! I grew up driving older cars which as a teenager I thought was terrible! Now I'm older and am starting to appreciate the classics! My first car was a 1973 Volkswagen Square Back. The car was my Grandmother's and had aobut 40,000 miles on it when she gave it to me in 1989 for my 16th birthday. I hated it at the time but sure wish I had it now! In more recent days I've had a nice new mini-van but we just acquired my favorite "new" car, a 1988 Olds Custom Cruiser. My husband isn't so fond of it but, I am totally falling in love with station wagons again! We originally purchased it as a "beater" to drive for work just for a few weeks until the transmission in the van was repaired. But I am so in love with "The Ark" that I'm not sure I'm going to want to part with it! It's the best to haul around our 3 Golden Retrievers. They just love the 3rd row of seats facing backward!

Sickos!!!
Yes, but they tend to post in the middle of the night, or on weekends when the Moderator may not be logging on every day. The best we can do is ignore it, hopefully nobody is using the links and they'll realize this isn't good a good phishing site and give up.

Hi, I'm Frank and new here. I'm working on a 70 Ralley 350. This is a car from my mis-spent youth or at least ill-spent youth. I'm in New Mexico now and will probably stay here. this is my sort of pre/post retirement idea of fun.

1959 98 coupe
hi brad here from NewZealand introducing myself to your site. Bought this car about a year ago and have started restoring it. How many of these cars are still around? Trying to track parts and seem to not have too much luck. Where would be the best place to look. Need front bumper, a flexplate and various other parts. Also does anyone know of a supplier for rubber weatherstripping kits? Thanks .

Hi Brad, welcome to our website. You could try Fusick and Kanter. They both sell stuff for Oldsmobiles although the bumper may be difficult.

Hello everybody, I'm Chip. I'm 50 yrs old and have been in this love affair with oldsmoble since my first one many moons ago it was a 1972 Cutlass S coupe, nice car, then after 8 yrs in the army and finding a beautiful and understanding woman I found a 74 Delta 88, it was fun for a while but the wife took care if it, (shelled the transmission) then parked it just a little to close to a railroad right of way, and a train clipped it I suppose it wasn't that bad but I had a hell of a time getting the 88 off my niebors roof. But now i have a few toys and am selling most of the chevys to keep the one olds I now have, I found her about 6 yrs ago and not being a fool I didn't tell a soul where she was. Till I bought her last summer for the grand total of $3,400.00 and got her running the same day I bought her. a 1971 442 convertable that need some TLC, but she's complete and even has a fair amount of extra parts. I mainly repair farm equipment for a living. and am being extra smart cause the wife wants to drive the 442 I am giving her a original 65 mustang. But Dan You've a Truely Awesome site here.

Chip, welcome to our site. Thanks for the compliment but it really isn't mine, I am a conscript. Admin asked me if I wanted to be a moderator since they aren't around much. Looking forward to photos of your car and follow along with the improvements you make.
Dan

Hi! I have been on here for about a couple weeks now, but havent formally introduced myself. My name is Ryan and I am 23. I have been married for almost four years now to my wife Faith and we have a 19 month old girl named Erin. I am in the Army, and currently stationed at Fort Campbell with the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division. I own a 71 Cutlass. Ever since I was about 11 I have wanted one and it was pretty emotional for me when I finally drove it home. I felt like Wayne from Wayne's World when I saw it in the auto trader... I thought "it will be mine... oh yes... It will be mine". I am currently replacing the head gaskets, and then bolting on a few extras when I get the beast back together. I cant wait to drive the beast again, I dont know if anyone knows what i am talking about, but I miss the euphoria of being behind the wheel of that machine! Something about the asphalt ripping sensation of gettin on it!
