VRV photos attached
The VRV is made of plastic and it lays on the head in front of the carburetor.
One side is black and the other is beige.
According to the shop manual... "The VRV reduces intake manifold vacuum... The valve has one port on the manifold side and two ports on the DTVS side of the valve; the center port is open to vent at the carburetor air horn, the outboard port to the "MT" port of the DTVS switch."
Also, according to the manual..."The driveability of the car will be affected and the idle will be rough if the valve is malfunctioning."
