The Impala has the 4T65 Transmission and the Alero has the 4T45 Transmission. The 4T45 has no stick. However the location of where it should be is correct. There is a red cap just under the air cleaner box and the exhaust crossover like VetteLover said

Yes the way VetteLover put it is the correct way to check the tranny fluid on the 4T40/4T45 transmission since it has no dipstick, however I thought the bolt was 11mm.

The car also has the be running and the engine and tranny hot when doing this, the car also has to be on a level surface for this to work correctly
