The 62 was and is the most common of the 6-year run. If you figure a 10% survival rate you've got roughly 3500 left, and as many 62s as I see up for sale I could believe that.
I daresay yours is optioned out like better than half were. Loaded cars were NOT common in 1962, and actually on up into the late 70s- that's when carmakers figured out they could load one up with high-profit options as a package deal and make a pile of money off a single car. In the meantime you had to get a lot of shyt you didn't really want just to get a couple of things you did want. Now people tend to take the stuff for granted and think any car without all the bells and whistles is a oddity. You must consider its times.
I had a hell of a time over on AACA forums convincing a 30-year old that pre-1975 cars just didn't come loaded. He kept arguing that we were talking about Buicks and Oldsmobiles and they should therefore be loaded. Nope, bubba, that ain't the way it was. I've seen plenty of Ninety Eights and Electras, Toronados and Rivieras, Wildcats and Starfires, that were as bare bones as any bottom line LeSabre or 88.
I see a lot more lightly optioned Starfires than loaded ones, and I see fewer 64 and 65 than the others- I see more 61s than I do 65s. Plus there's the complexity of restoring a 65- too much unique stuff compared to the others. At least the other years DID share some pieces with the rest of the lineup.
