350 Stroked??

What range should it cost to have my 350 Rocket from my 1972 Cutlass Supreme stroked? I was going to do just a little beefing on my 350 but after a few conversations and threads online, I'm thinking about stroking it. What kind of performance can I expect after stroking it?

Lol Help me out Eric...I don't know much abt engine and performance, I can definitely stand to know more and with this being my first restore I want to know before I send the $$$ out...

I started to change from a 350 to a 455 but my car is matching #s and I want to keep it that way...Will a stroked 350 compete with let's say a slightly beefed 455?

You'll just be a 'squirt' away!!
A 350 + .030 with nitrous could be closer, without all the stroking!!

No. On a street car it is hard to make up for the extra 100 cubes. The 350 has a few advantages in design, IMO, but bang-for-buck, the same $ put into a 455 will yield more performance. Also, you can really only add .125" +/- to the stroke. You will end up with a nice little SBO.

I'm doing 2 strokers right now. 1 is a regular 350 gas block, the other is a DX diesel block.
The gas block will be 380 cubic inches and while it'll only be stroked .125 like Jim said, it will also be bored .098 over to add some size and breathing ability. I'll bet well hit 400lbft of torque with a fairly mild build.
The DX on the other hand should be a beast, 450hp and over 500lbft of torque. Both will be dynoed.

Your stroked 350 may have a VIN derivative stamp that matches, but the expensive custom internal parts will be far from original. You can cheaply increase stroke from 3.385" to 4.250" by dropping in a 455. Restamp the block if it makes you feel better - that will be just as original as your custom-built stroked 350. Paint the 455 gold and 99% of the people will never know.

I'm not going to argue the benefits of building a stroker drag motor, but for the street you'll be money ahead and much happier with a BBO.

Mark has built a few. He would be one guy to talk to. How stock looking do you want it? If stock manifolds are necessary, minus a good 25 hp/tq off any numbers quoted. I personally really like the Olds 350. 9.5+ to 1, ported heads and the right cam will go a long way. The extra bore and stroke will be gravy. CP makes a SBO sroker piston with sbc rod but the right sbc 400 piston will work too.

Fond as I am of the 350, it it hard to disagree. I do think the 350 is a great platform for a little nitrous or boost. It is also a nice compromise between fun to drive and reasonable economy. But it is hard to make up for the extra hundred cubes.
